CHAPTER SIXTEEN
In which she's tested.
Ace had Amora on an emotional high. For the past few days, Ace was tending to her and making her feel special. They were kicking it and warming up to each other. Amora hadn't left his house since the night he picked her up, and didn't plan on leaving either. The feelings between the two were obvious, but they were building a genuine friendship.
Xavier hadn't said anything to her since he basically kicked her out the house and she was grateful. That was a scab she didn't want to pick and was over it. She was grateful for Ace and definitely appreciative of how he was there for her. He showed her a soft side, and she loved it.The sunlight beamed through Ace's room, causing Amora to stir in her sleep. When she opened her eyes, Ace wasn't in the bed but he always got up early. It was like he didn't sleep. Amora figured out exactly where he was when he walked into his bedroom, fully dressed from head to toe in all black.
They both stared at each other, waiting to say something. Amora pushed her hair back, since it was wild from her sleeping on it with no scarf.
"I was finna come wake you up," He commented, standing at the end of the bed. "We got work to do."
"Well, good morning." Amora responded, wiping the sleep from her eyes. When she checked the time, she was saw it was a crisp 7 a.m.
Ace didn't respond to it, he was ready to make some money and since Amora wanted to so bad, she had to pull her own weight.
Amora stood up out the bed, Ace's t-shirt hugging her body. He was tall, but he was slim so his clothes weren't super big on her. She only had his shirt on, no panties or bra. She was that comfortable in his house.
She leaned toward the end of the bed where Ace was and he grabbed her hand, helping her off the bed. He was being sweet and gentle with her. Ever since their talk, he looked at her differently. He didn't want to be mean because she was genuinely on her own in a world she knew nothing about. But, that made Ace curious. What about her past landed her here? She always acted like there was something more to her life and he wanted to know what it was.
She was an open book but he could tell there was more to her.
Meanwhile, Amora was learning Ace piece by piece. It seemed like he has OCD with the way he obsesses about his house being clean, especially his bathroom. Every label was turned the same way and it was the cleanest Amora seen a man be.
After her quick shower, she wrapped a towel around her. Her natural hair was frizzy and curly but she always threw it up in a loose ponytail because it wasn't anything else to do with it.
When she left the bathroom, Ace had left the room. He was a gentleman when he wanted to be. He never made her feel anything less than, and it wasn't something Amora was used to. She was still shy around him and he respected that, which she also wasn't used to.
