Hoyeon knew that something wasn't right as soon as she saw the duffle bags on the living room floor.

She couldn't help but wonder why you'd be packing, but just the thought of it was enough to make her heart pound and a wave of anxiety rush over her.

"Y/N?" She called out and walked up the stairs.

As soon as she was at the top of the staircase, she saw you coming out of the bedroom, wheeling your suitcase behind you.

"What's going on?" She asked as you began to head downstairs, putting your suitcase by your other bags on the floor. "What's with all of your bags? Is everything alright?"

She came up behind you and wrapped her arms around you, her hands on your hips.

"Are you going on vacation? Taking a trip with your friends or going home to see your family for a bit?"

"No." You said and pulled away from her.

Turning around to face her, you let out a shaky sigh and said two words she never thought she'd hear you say.

"I'm leaving."

"Leaving? To go where?" She asked and a nervous chuckle followed the words that left her lips.

"I don't know. Somewhere. Anywhere."

"Y/N, what are you saying? What is going on?"

"We need to break up, Hoyeon."

Her heart sank in her chest. She'd never felt so anxious or afraid.

She's always been so afraid that she'd lose you. You're her everything. The only one for her.

She can't ever imagine living life without you. Every time she thinks about the future, she feels frightened because so much in her life has changed and she never knows what to expect.

She only sees you there, living every moment and every adventure right by her side.

So hearing you say those words was so scary.

"Why? What'd I do wrong?"

"Nothing, babe. It's not you. I just need some space."

"Space?" She mumbled sadly, tears filling her eyes. "You need to get away from me?"

You let out a sad sigh as a tear slipped down her cheek.

"I don't understand. What happened to make you feel this way? Was it me? Something I did or didn't do? Is it because I'm busy? Are we lacking too much quality time together? Do you feel lonely? If that's what it is, I'll fix it! I'll do anything, my love."

She was pleading with you as she took your hand into her shaky one.

"Don't go. Please, don't leave me. I love you. I need you. I don't think I could get through life without you by my side. I want to be with you forever. Please don't give up on me. Let me make things better. Please, baby. Don't go!"

She threw her arms around your neck, sniffling as she let a few tears fall.

You didn't want to continue with the prank. Seeing her so broken and so shaken up was too much for you to handle.

"Shh, baby," you shushed her softly and rubbed her back. "I've got you. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not leaving your side. I promise."

"You mean it? You promise?" She sniffled as she looked up at you.

"I promise. I was never leaving you. It was just a prank."

"A prank?" She mumbled sadly. "Why would you do that to me? You scared me. I thought I was going to lose you."

"You will never lose me." You promised as you cupped her cheeks in your hands? Wiping away her tears with your thumbs. "I'm sorry. It was stupid."

"I won't argue with that."

You laughed and then gave her a short but sweet kiss, causing her to smile against your lips.

"Don't do that anymore." She pouted. "It was scary."

"No more, I promise."

"I love you." She said and hugged you.

"I love you too, Hoyeon. So very much."
