chapter twelve
corruption

When Blair finally got home later that night, her mother had smothered her in hugs and forehead kisses, her father laughing at the face she made.

Noah had greeted his older sister by putting her into a head lock the moment she stepped into the kitchen, Everly pulling him off by his arm.

By the end of the night and two marvel films later, the Parker family were all exhausted. Blair lay in bed, scrolling through her phone. She still hadn't heard back from Jason but that wasn't her main concern right now. She was worried about her blonde friend and the message that was left on her leg cast.

James closed Everly's door behind him after kissing her forehead goodnight before making his way towards his eldest daughter's room. He had already wished his only son a good night sleep, finding the teenage boy on his computer playing video games, as usual.

Hearing a knock on her door, Blair looked up to see her father, stood in the door way. She sent a small smile his way as he walked over, sitting on the corner of her bed. He lifted his hand, stroking her hair as a small frown made its way onto his face.

He was scared. Scared for his eldest daughter. He didn't know why she ended up in hospital with a broken arm and split lip but it worried him. Blair would always be his 'little bear' and he hated seeing her in such a state. He wished he would never have to see her like this again.

She was his and Clara's first ever child and yes they might of had her younger than most parents but she changed both of their life's for the better. Especially James'.

Him and his wife had been very different in high school. James had always been known as an immature student even though he was three years older whilst Clara had her head screwed on. It had been a great shock to everyone when Clara fell pregnant and an even bigger shock when James appeared to be happier than she was.

When Clara was heavily pregnant, James used to talk to her stomach before they went to bed, sometimes reading a story. And when Blair was born and James saw her wrapped in a baby pink blanket he let a tear fall for the first time in years.

They had both decided on the name Blair even before she was born. But when James came home one night to find his daughter and girlfriend asleep on the sofa, the smaller one dressed in a bear fleece, he knew the nickname would stick. And it did.

A year after Blair's birth, the newly-wed couple were going through the same process as before. Only this time with twins. Blair, being only a year old, didn't quite understand what was going on but was more than happy when Everly and Noah joined the Parker family.

Noah had been a spitting image of his dad whilst Everly looked a lot like her mother. Blair however seemed to look like a mixture of the two. As the Parker children grew into teens, Blair and James' relationship didn't change at all, and if it did, it only grew stronger. The two were more like best friends as she was almost a little him just more sensible.

James looked up, seeing his daughter who was now asleep, a content look on her face. He smiled softly before kissing her forehead. "Sweet dreams, Bear."

A couple days later, Hanna was able to leave the hospital and she, as well as the other four girls, was still anxious about the writing on her leg.
