Freezing To Death

Chapter 7: A Year Later

A year later...
"Don't you wish that I could of grabbed her out of the water?" Beth asked Alex.
"Stop. Let's not talk about that."
"But, I mean I could've!"
"Beth! Stop! You couldn't have done anything! I know you are still devastated after a year."
"And your not? She's your sister!"
"I know. I know. Okay. See here? We found her on the road seven-teen days before she got taken away. That's why I wasn't so devastated when I found out about her death. Now, can we please drop it?" Alex whispered.
She was so smart, Beth thought to herself. Alex hugged Beth.
"See you third period."
I walked away to my history class. I was almost late. My dad thinks I should have great grades. So, I'm not going to be late.
"Good afternoon, Beth. How's your day?" Mrs. Willow asked.
"Good n' you?"
"Great actually no one got a C on the history test from last week."

Beth knew Mrs. Willow misses Ally too. Heck, she was her number one student! Her grade hasn't ever dropped down to a B in her class.

"Beth! You dropped your pen down the hallway! I got to go! See ya!" Alex said.

"Oh, uh. Thanks!" Beth replied.

She is starting to think that Alex likes her. Well, we never know for sure.

3rd period:
"Hey, I text you. Why didn't you answer?" Alex asked.
"Well, I'm trying to keep my grades up for my dad."

"Oh, I didn't know that."

"Well, now you do."

After school, Beth went home to some good news. "Beth, I am so glad you are home! Your father just got a job down in Florida! Are you going to be okay with that?"

"Yes. Of course!" Beth said. She was so excited.

A Week Later:

It was sad to see Beth get all of her things taken away for a month. She thinks it is all condos, beaches, and celebrities. She doesn't know at all what is in Florida. There are water moccasins, poisonous snakes, effecting salt water, thunder storms that get on your nerve. She just doesn't understand. Beth and her family are riding in a private jet to Florida to an apartment and from that point on, they will not have to deal with Chinese people, nor crowded places. Then they are going house-hunting. 

As Beth was un-packing everything from the car, she saw a girl her age, doing the same thing, un-packing. She thought she saw Alex. But, no, she did not. She waited on the stairs until the girl came out of the apartment. She finally came out. Beth went to go make a friend. "Hey, I assume you're new here?" The girl turned around. She looked like Ally. Exactly like Ally. There was only one question to ask now. "What's your name?" Beth asked.

"Ally. Isn't your name Beth?"

Beth could not believe her eyes.
