 Chapter 19

Date: March 30th

Location: Aura’s Office, Guardian Base

Time: 10:18 a.m.

Whenever someone has big or grand news, more often than not they want to be the ones to share it. They have their thunder and they was to make sure that everyone hears it. Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t go as planned and your thunder is reduced to a crackle when information gets out earlier than it was supposed to.

Having the cover that I was dead was nice, it meant that not a lot of people would be coming after me for “revenge.” The selected few that knew were really the only people that needed to know, with the exception of Sebastian.

Now the man has decided to plaster my face on a picture and let everyone know that I had avoided death. It was even worse because now people would go all out, because if I wasn’t killed by a shot to the chest by Levi, an assassin known worldwide in the criminal community, then others wouldn’t stop shooting until I looked like Swiss cheese.

“When did this happen?” Valentin asked and while part of me wanted to bitterly point out the date on the paper I held it back.

“When Iris and I went to California to check on one of the Guardian Bases,” I said and started to massage my temples.

Part of me wanted to do damage control, but what could I really do? I could take it down, but by now every criminal would know that I wasn’t really dead. There was no way or method I could do to trick them again, because even if I staged my death, they would be even less likely to believe it now.

“What do we do?” I asked this time and I got the confused looks and I couldn’t blame them.

This wasn’t a situation anyone has ever been in before, there wasn’t any protocol to follow. We were up against a giant with no moves to play at the moment. We were basically screwed. Well at least I was.

“You have to go underground,” Valentin said and my mouth turned at the thought.

“I don’t think hiding is really an option anymore,” While they didn’t know exactly where I was, people knew that I would hide and they might not stop looking. “Besides, it’s just Sebastian and his men looking for me.”

“No offense Aura, but you’re an idiot if you think that,” Valentin said bluntly and continued before I could say anything. “There are still people from Lockstar roaming around, looking for you. And what about Holly Child’s men? She’s still in jail too, she still has a bone to pick with you.”

“Ok, ok,” This time I cut him off before he could continue the list of people who would really like to see me six feet under. “But I can’t just sit on my hands.”
