here's your favourite couple you sinners /j
so this was in the works for a bit but I was never happy with it. one night i eventually just got down and wrote it. I'm still not happy but I've edited it and figured, ah fuck it. I'll only stare at it more until I hate every aspect of it so i may as well throw it out. please send feedback because I'm that bitch who needs validation.
it's good to be back.

which reminds me, opinions: should i post some non-autism related stuff into a separate story? I have a couple of ideas which aren't tooooo autism-related, plus a random series I've been working on and off on about aliens and humans on a ship (five feet apart because at least 3/4 of them are not gay). Shall I do it? Are you not just reading me because you like my writing and because I give vague advice about how to write autism? Think of this one shot as a shitty tester for that.

enjoy fuckers I'm going to bed-

Joseph was fast asleep and had been for half an hour. Westley was glad to be with him though. Sometimes just quiet moments like this were the most memorable ones. Just sitting quietly and existing. But, while Westley loved his friend (platonically) dearly, he had to take a piss. So he gently placed Joseph's sleeping head on a pillow and rushed out to do his business. After coming out, Westley figured now would be a good time to restock on food. Joseph would be thirsty when he woke up and Wesley ate all the pizza Jules got them and really needed something else. He didn't really want to leave since he liked hanging around the place. His parents could be very overbearing and the more laid back style of Joseph's household was nice. And even when his parents were busy, pulling all-nighters at offices and flying away for business trips, they always tried to make sure their kids were alright. Westley admired it a lot.

As he crept down the stairs, he jumped when he saw Jules on the sofa, watching something on tv. His brain malfunctioned at the sight.

Jules has no right to be so hot and cute. Their brown hair was given a sharp buzz cut recently and it made it look so fuzzy and fun to play with. Their eyes stayed glued to the tv, a beautiful shade of blue, almost reminding Westley of an afternoon sky, cloudless and piercing blue, blanketed across the sky. Their nails were painted pale pink with some little gold glitter. But there were things Westley found cute about Jules. Their skin was a creamy colour and was flawless, though a few brown moles sometimes disrupted the colour. The way they laughed - the first time Westley heard the laugh, he thought the room had wind chimes somewhere.

"Hey." He said his eyes averting downwards to his mustard yellow socks.
"Sup," Jules spoke, a smile curving up when they saw Westley at the bottom of the stairs. "Need something?"
"Oh, I was getting food and stuff for Joseph. And water... he'll probably be thirsty when he wakes up..."

Jules' smile turned to a grin. "Ooo that's perfect then. I was ordering Chinese... can you see if Jo wants something?"
Westley's feet started to shuffle a little. "Oh, he's... asleep still."
"Oooooooh got ya. Do you want something then? I'll pay."
Westley shook his head, looking up at the other. "No, no... I'm... I got my wallet. I can pay for my own and yours."
"Nah dude," Jules stood up, waving their hand around dismissively. "you went to go hang out with my brother when you knew he wasn't feeling great. You deserve it."
They gave Westley a friendly punch to the shoulder and smiled, before moving to the kitchen where a printed-out menu of the Chinese place Joseph and Jules loved was pinned to a corkboard, which was also decorated with emergency numbers and a note telling Jules to fuck off for whatever reason. Ah, sibling rivalry... not that single child Westley could relate.

Westley shuffled after them, his cheeks a little dusty red. He mumbled his order when asked and leaned against the table. Jo was right. He really did simp hard for Jules. But in his defence, Jules had no right to be so attractive. He tried to be respectful about it, Jules had never mentioned wanting to be in a relationship and Joseph didn't believe they had any partners currently. But it could be difficult sometimes, especially in moments where Joseph couldn't distract him with his latest whale fact or a stupid thing he heard or saw at a party or during class.

"Ok, I've got the order," Jules spoke, snapping Westley out of his thoughts. "I've ordered extra noodles and soup for Jo if he wants. It'll all be here in half an hour. For now..." Jules spun around on their heel. "I'm watching TV if you wanna join."

Westley smiled, nodding. "Yeah sure." He followed them back to the living rooms where some old sitcom was paused. "Whatcha watching?"
"The young ones. It's this old British sitcom thing about these for dudes in uni in the 80s. Parts of it didn't age too but they featured some great music and some funny shit. But I'm happy to switch. The episode's more or less over anyway."

Westley took a glance. The screen was on pause. It features a punk-looking guy with orange hair and a pickaxe through his head. It seemed to be in a weird basement. He quickly decided that it wasn't his cup of tea.

The two decided on a binge of Community. It was admittedly enjoyable, though it took a little to get into it. They soon were watching the episode where the study group were attempting to get Abed a girlfriend after wondering if someone has a crush on him as well as Jeff being kicked out of a snooker club for not wanting to wear shorts.

Except they had it on pause after the Chinese arrived.

"I fucking love this episode," Jules said as they organised who's food belonged to who.

"Same." Westley grinned at them, coming out of his own shell without really realising. "I liked the whole thing with Abed that they do. He's not forced to get a girl at the end. They just let him do or be whatever and there's no shame."

"Exactly!" Jules' eyes lit up and their smile grew wider. "Like, I hate it when people are forced to be with people in films, it's annoying. Like just work with what the person can do. Like, they let this girl approach Abed because he's better with it."

"Yeah, I prefer it myself." Westley found himself admitting, not even realising it until the words left him.

"Oh..." Westley immediately felt that those words had more meaning to Jules than he thought. "Have you ever had a girl, West? Or guy... or whatever."
Westley immediately wished that they were on a higher floor. Maybe even an apartment. Something he could jump off at least. "Uh, yeah but only girls. And even then they didn't last long."

"Would you date someone who's not a girl?"

There was a long pause.

Jules turned their body around to see Westley desperately trying to hide his flushed face by staring down at his lap. It didn't work very well.

"I'm... uh..." he gulped softly and looked at Jules, who had started grinning like a Cheshire Cat. The realisation hit him like a pile of bricks. "Jo told you, didn't he?"

The grin never ceased and only grew. "Nailed it."

But Westley didn't seem to understand Jules' body language. "Don't laugh at me." He spoke weakly. "I know you don't feel that way and I'm not gonna force you but-"

"Oi! Who said I didn't?"
Westley's head shot up. Who was this and what had they done with Jules?

"I've liked you for a while. You just kinda looked awkward so I kinda was waiting to see how you were. I was gonna hint to you but you seemed to get the message." Jules shrugged, leaning against the sofa with a more laid back smile. "And this was kind of a way? I think? I didn't really intend it, it just all came out."
Westley felt his cheek grow warm. "I appreciate that."

"Cheers. You have no idea how much I wanted to scream my feeling to you." Jules suddenly bolted up excitedly. "What if you make it up to me by taking me out somewhere?"
Westley shuffled a little to face Jules and gave them a shy smile. "I'd like that a lot. But..."
Jules' Face suddenly crumpled up anxiously. Westley desperately wanted to squeeze them to death. Out of comfort of course. But Jules wouldn't appreciate it, so he didn't.
"Just... go easy. You're my first... crush who isn't... isn't a girl. It's not bad but it's been something I've kinda been adjusting to since these feelings developed."

"Oh! Yeah, I can do that." Jules beamed. "Hey, I remember going out with guys for the first time. It's scary having these feelings. But you adjust and realise they're natural. I'll help you out however I can."

Westley nodded with a blush, not noticing Jules moving closer next to him. Suddenly, they rested their head on his shoulder. Westley froze for a moment before giving them a shy smile, silently letting Jules know he was okay by wrapping his arm around them. He felt a nuzzle and suddenly, things seemed ok. It was ok that he was holding Jules this way while eating manufactured Chinese food. It was fine. He was ok.

A laugh at the top of the stairs got Westley's attention. Jo was laughing as he walked down them."I told you he was a simp for you."

Jules giggled along and Westley gave his friend a playful middle finger. "Fuck you," Westley said, throwing a grin at the other, just to remind Joseph that while he told Jules a dark and treasured secret, it also got him a date, which was really the only reason they were still friends. He was only joking of course.

"Whatever, brother in law. Now gimme noodles I'm starving-"
"Oi, we were having a moment here!"
