Elle

The Wraith Cometh

"You... You're the trespasser", he whispers terrifiedly. As the night sky began to fill with clouds and thunder, Nic stared at the creature what seemed like forever, until it began to move towards him. He carefully walked backwards, as this particle-shifting being glared at him with its empty face. He continued backing away, until Nic bumps into Elle, causing him to jump back out of fright. He quickly turns back around to see the creature, vanished.

" Oh, hey Nic, you alright?", she asks him. She observes as he begins to look unsettled, all while seemingly lost in time.

"...Nic?", she asks again in a concerned manner. The rest of the group take notice of him being unresponsive while he is in a state of shock.

" Hey Nic are you alright? What happened?", Leo asks anxiously. He begins to slowly nod,  and finally snaps out of his trance.

"We need to go...", he says sternly. Everyone around him look at each other confused, and begin to follow him. Elle catches up to Nic, trying to pull him aside from the rest of the group.

" Nic what's wrong? You can tell me anything." He continues to walk, ignoring her question. She attempts to make him talk, trying to find answers. After several attempts of asking him questions, she had enough, and jumps in front of him. 

"Okay look, I know you're hiding something from us, you don't have to tell them you can just tell me, I don't care what it is! You are starting to worry me, just tell me! ", she yells at him, making the rest of the boys stop in their track and staying behind. Loud thunder crackles in the air, convincing Nic to just tell her what needs to be told.

" Please Nic, just tell me what happened", she adds in softly. He turns to look at her, and finally reveals the truth.

" Something came through ", he whispered with a broken voice. Elle's eyes widen with disbelief.

" What?", she replies worriedly.

"That dream we had...", he stops, as he starts to show fear in his expression.

" No..that can't be", she replies dumbfounded.

"Whatever that was in our dreams, it came true. I don't know how or why, but it just did. When I went over there to check on the cube, it was watching me, and it even came closely. I really felt it would have attacked me, but it didn't for some reason", he explained.

"What did it do to you?"

"Nothing", he responded. " I don't normally get scared, even with things out of the ordinary, but, I was just so overwhelmed with fear and I felt really worried", he adds in, visibly unsettled.

" Well Nic, of course, it's completely natural for you to fear for your life", she replies calmy.

"Not mine...", he quickly cuts in, looking towards Elle. Her expression grew cold, with him startling her a bit.

" Elle, I don't think it is a coincidence that this creature comes through on its own just a week after your arrival here", he stated in an ominous way. "When I was facing that thing, I wasn't fearful for my life, all I could think about, was that it could have been after you." Elle is left completely speechless, and Nic takes her by both hands.

"I'm not going to let anything happen to you, I will protect you no matter what, EVEN if it meant my own life to be given away just for you", her eyes then began to fill up with tears. "And Elle, from the moment you stepped in onto this earth, and the moment I laid my eyes on you, was the moment I knew, that you would become so precious to me", she begins to cry, and hugs Nic. A couple of tears escape from Nic's eyes, hugging her for a moment, just before he lets go of her. He wipes her tears away, and everyone remains silent for a couple of minutes, only as the rain continued to pour.
