Chapter 5: Together Again

I turn the car around and start heading back toward the compound, I have to find Wanda. I pull into the garage and run inside. I go to Wanda's room and knock on the door, when she opens the door a look of relief comes over her face. She pulls me inside and closes the door behind me.

"Hey Wanda can we talk?", I say wearily

"Yeah of course", she says as she sits on the bed

I sit down next to her and take a deep breath, "Wanda these past few weeks without you have been agonizing, I'm sorry you had to find out what Nat and I did that way but she's not the one I want to be with. When I lost you, it was like I had lost my entire world in the blink of an eye. I really thought you didn't love me and that was what hurt most of all".

A look of pain shows on Wanda's face, "Ivy I will never stop loving you. I met you in the dark, you lit me up. You made me feel like I was enough. After my brother died, I felt like life wasn't worth living anymore but the day that I met you I knew I had to stick around. I knew I loved you then and I want to stay with you until we're gray and old. I love you so much".

"Just say you won't let go again, please", I say with tears flowing down my cheeks

"I promise Ivy, I will never let you go again", Wanda says as she wipes my tears

She leans in and I put my lips to her, nothing will ever compare to the feeling of being with her. I thought I lost my soulmate forever but I just get to love her harder now. She stands up and takes my hand in hers, I stand and she pulls me into a slow dance. She puts our song on and we dance round and round her room. "I'm so in love with you", Wanda says as she kisses my cheek. I put my forehead to hers and I smile. She's the only woman I will ever love, now the hard part is telling Nat that we need to just be best friends.

I walk toward Nat's room with a feeling of panic in my chest, I know she'll understand because that's just who she is but I know it will hurt her feelings. I knock on her door; she answers looking clearly upset but when she sees me her faces changes into a smile. She invites me inside and we both sit on her couch.

"Hey Nat, we need to talk", I say nervously

She grabs my hand and runs her thumb across my fingers, "of course Ivy. What is it?"

I look into her eyes, "Nat you're my best friend and I love you so much, you'll always be one of my lights in this dark world but Wanda is who I want to be with. What happened between us was real and I will never forget it. I'm so sorry and I hope you still want to be my best friend after this".

A smile forms on her face and she looks at me fondly, "Ivy I love you too, you have taught me that my past doesn't make me who I am now. The love you and Wanda have for each other is never ending and I knew you weren't going to pick me and that's okay. You'll always be my best friend".

I lean forward and give her one final kiss; she meets my lips and strokes my cheek. I knew she'd understand but I know neither one of us will forget. I put my forehead to hers and do the first part of our whistle, she finishes it and we both smile. I leave her room and see Steve standing in the hallway, he sees me leaving Nat's room and gives me a stern look.

"Oh knock that crap off Steve, I let her down gently. You know I would never try to hurt her", I say with a slight attitude.

His stern looks turns into a small smile, "I'm glad you found your way back to Wanda kid, she's been dying without you.
