I got home almost immediately, my parents were not home, and for that, I was very grateful. If they were, I wouldn't have heard the end of it. A well-brought up girl skipping school? Doesn't sound right does it? I left for the bathroom, soaked my face in cold water and put on some aloe gel. My skin looked worse than before, It was red and swollen. A tear escaped my cheek. I looked like a hippo, a pregnant hippo.
I got to my room, to rest and re-examine my face in the mirror. Suddenly, I heard the front door burst open, and stomping of feet that threatened to collapse the house, I ran to my drawer to get my pepper spray in case it was a thief, even though I knew better. Not so surprisingly, I opened my room door to meet my mom standing with her eyes crossed, her hands folded on her chest, breathing raggedly. My homeroom teacher must've called to tell her I didn't attend today's afternoon classes.
"Mom, listen I can Explain. I was—-"
"You have nothing to explain to me, you left school Nina! Left school! You know you're studying to apply for a scholarship, you are better than this—-"
"I got hurt mom!"
"Firstly, never interrupt me while I speak again and also, getting hurt is not an excuse to skip your classes! The only thing I see is you having a red face!which is normal because of your condition. Your bones aren't broken nor dislocated, and even if they were, you still aren't allowed to skip classes! I'm sure that you hurt yourself because of your clumsiness and usual stupidity! Never let this repeat itself understood?!"
I let out a soft whisper
"Understood"
I shut the door to my room shut, then put a hand over my mouth to stifle my sobs.

Tuesday.
I honestly wished this day would be better than the previous one. Boy was I wrong. I got to school with a determined mind to not let anything affect me. I got to class, avoiding gazes from everybody, set down my books, sat down on my chair, before my derrière landed on the ground with a thud. I looked up and saw Dylan smiling down at me, he pulled the chair from right underneath me. Oh no you don't.
I stood up immediately, put on my poker face and said;
"Dylan, don't try that with anyone again, it's dangerous and you could hurt someone"
I watched as his body vibrated as he bursts into fits of uncontrollable laughter.
"Seems like albie here has grown some balls. Well, You won't have them for much longer."
I gulped.
I tried to maintain my poker face, I was getting successful at it, before Lydia poured a whole cup of iced Americano all over me. I felt the Iced Americano wash away my newly found confidence. Then I realized; what was I thinking? Why couldn't I have just kept my mouth shut? Must I always turn myself into the school laughing stock?
Dylan moved closer to me, put his mouth beside my ear and whispered
"There's alot where that came from albie, not to worry, you'll get more and more until you're satisfied"
I gulped again, turned away and started speed walking towards the door, then I slipped and landed face flat on the ground. The whole class burst into laughter and started Chanting;
"N.N, N.N, N.N"
I stood up and walked out. That was all I could do, I didn't want to cry and I couldn't fight back.
I stayed in the locker room until P.E because my clothes were wet after washing the coffee stains away. I would have changed into my P.E wear, but in my school, P.E wear is only meant for P.E class and nothing else.
When I heard the bell for P.E, I stood up to leave, before I could get to the door, several girls rushed into the room, I hid behind the lockers. After everyone left, I came out of my hiding place to go to P.E, only for me to try to open the door and find it locked. I knocked and shouted for help but none came. Nobody ever locks the Locker room, well nobody except that snake Lydia, who must've done it on purpose.
I sat down and blinked back the tears that were beginning to form. I won't cry, it's not my fault I'm like this.
P.E is for two hours, I waited for about an hour, before I heard someone trying to open the door. I ran to the door with hope that I'll be out of the Locker room in no time. The door opened and the next thing I felt on my face was a stinging pain. I had just been slapped. I looked up and met none other that my mom, in the flesh. She had fire in her eyes.
"You ungrateful daughter! You skip your classes to hide in the locker room? With everything your dad and I have done for you. We work our butts off just to provide for you and send you to a private school, and you being the thoughtless person that you are, you repay us by skipping your classes? I get a call from work that MY daughter, MY daughter refused to show up in class, how do you think that makes me feel"
"Are you sure about the fact of me being YOUR Daughter?" I say, my voice dangerously low
"What did you just say?"
"You heard me MOM. I said what was on my mind, because every other mom I see cares about their daughter! Every other mom I see takes their daughter's side! Every other mom I see puts her daughter's interest FIRST!!!! You do none of that and yet you claim I'm your daughter! If I was your daughter, you would understand that my condition is because of YOU and Dad! If you were my mother you won't treat me as if my appearance is my fault. IF YOU WERE MY MOTHER, YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT I'M HURTING AND THAT I'VE LOST EVERY REASON TO BE HAPPY!!!!" I screamed, saying 'mom' mockingly.
She had a shocked expression on her face, but it was gone before you could even bat an eyelash. I left the Locker room for P.E, the class was almost over but I participated in the exercises left. I left for the locker room to change my clothes. Then I discovered my clothes had disappeared, I checked everywhere I just couldn't find it. Then I heard Lydia snicker behind me.
"There's only one place trash deserves to be."
I left the Locker room to check the trash can, my clothes were in it! I brought them out, there were stains all over them. I took them, tied them in a polythene bag and put them in my Locker, then I left for class without saying a word.
I stopped by my locker before getting to class, My locker looked emptier. Something was missing. MY HISTORY TEXTBOOKS! I saved money for six months to just buy those. I looked around and saw Dylan laughing. I ignored him, I checked the Trash can, It wasn't there.
"It's too late, It'll probably be burning right now" I heard Dylan say. Oh no
I left for the school incinerator, I ran with all my strength, only to get there and discover my books had turned into ashes. The last piece of common sense flew out of my head, I ran back to school, and shoved Dylan with all my strength, he only stumbled. He looked up with anger and pushed me back. I fell with an embarrassingly loud thud and hurt my ankle. Dylan walked away after mouthing;
"You'll pay for that". Yet again, gulped heavily. Lydia and her goons marched behind him after saying
"I wonder if her parents are too poor to feed her, she fell flat on the ground when Dylan shoved her lightly."
