It was around 5am, everyone was up, Festus included. We could hardly get any sleep; there were wolves howling, frogs creaking and insect's buzzing. We stepped out of the tent when the day became clear, I heaved a sigh of relief.

"How many more days are we going to spend in this hellhole of a forest?" a fed up Nelly asked

"fourteen days, maybe less if we cut down on the breaks" Leon answered.

"FOURTEEN! Forests are usually moist! It's not good for my hair's health!!" August yelled.

"oh shut up about your hair for once August! We may be eaten by wolves anytime now or worse. Would you still care about your hair's health then?" Martha replied.

"Someone woke up at the wrong side of the bed this morning" he gasped at a frowning Martha before responding;

"my bad, I meant tent" August said between laughs.

Leon remained fixed on the map he had been studying since he day before.

"How's it going?" I asked him

"fine, I've traced the fastest path through the forest, I'm not sure it's the safest though. We need to get out of here fast, the longer a person stays here, the more they lose their sanity."

I looked up, and saw August and Martha pulling each other's hair with Cornelius trying to stop them. I sighed before responding to Leon;

"I couldn't agree more".

We packed up our stuff into the cart, and got on our horses; with Martha sharing a horse with me. After three hours of moving, with our backs sore, and Martha resting on my back the whole journey, Leon signaled us to stop. "THANK GOD!" Nelly and August chorused.

Before us was a creek, the sound of the water must've woken Martha up, she sat up and whispered loudly;

"The Horoma creek" Leon nodded in agreement. Martha jumped down from the horse and moved closer to the creek; "I can feel the magic" she said whilst running her hands through the water. Her hands glowed orange. She went to the cart, got a water bottle, and filled it up.

"can we drink the water?" Nelly asked.

"Drink it and die Nelly" Martha said, rolling her eyes.

"so what does the water do?!"

"It serves many purposes; it can be used as a poison, a drop on the eyes can make you see things ordinary humans can't see, the magic in it can be channeled for healing, it has many more benefits I can't even mention right now." Martha responded to Nelly.

"Then I'd take some too!" August dipped his water bottle into the water violently, against Martha's warnings and filled it up, some water splashed into his eyes.

"Oh no! oh no! OH NO!" he screamed.

"what is it August?" Nelly asked warily

"Michela, don't look sideways" he whispered

"why" I whispered back fighting the urge to turn my head

"Beside you there's a man, but... but... he... he's not normal. He has no face. It seems like his face has been clawed off by some animal" he whispered shakily.

"Vengeful spirits" Martha whispered. I nearly fainted.

"why can't anyone else see them?" a concerned Leon asked.

"The water splashed into August's eyes"

"How can we get rid of it!" August chimed in. They all turned to face Martha, because technically she was the only one that had any Knowledge about Magic.
