"So, this is a school lock-in," Alya mused as she, Marinette, Nino, and Adrien, dressed in their pajamas and carrying their overnight bags walked up the steps to their school. "Basically just going to school way later than usual." She looked up at the sky which was a beautiful array of oranges and yellows as the sun was beginning to set. All around her, students were excitedly chatting amongst each other as they walked up to the entrance of the school, everyone also in their nightclothes and carrying bags with certain necessities.
"Pretty much," Marinette giggled. "It's like a sleepover but with way more people. You didn't have lock-ins at your old school?"
She rolled her eyes. "Nah, I went to an all-girls Catholic school, and the nuns didn't want to risk us, sinning or, 'Gaying out,' as the older girls called it." Marinette and Nino burst out into a fit of laughter while Adrien just stood looking confused. "I'm serious! A hundred girls in one room? There's bound to be a little mischief. Especially when Frankie Mcallister's got that low-cut pajama shirt and those shorts that leave nothing to the imagination."
Noticing his girlfriend drooling a bit, Nino dabs her lip with his pillowcase.
"What do you mean?" Adrien innocently asked.
The three, not-so-innocent friends of the group eyed the blonde warily, wondering if they should tell him what Alya meant. "Later dude," Nino said while patting his shoulder. "Changing the subject, did your dad have a stroke?" Ignoring his friend's look of shock, he continues, "I'm serious! He actually let you come to this?"
Adrien chuckled. "I was surprised too, but-"
"He heard the word 'Lock-in,'" Alya interrupted. "And allowed you to come."
"Typical Gabriel," Marinette added.
Adrien tried to think of something to say in defense of his father but nothing came to mind except a weak, "He... He just wants me to be safe." None of them looked convinced. "... Hey, as long as I'm locked in a room with authority figures who know CPR, then he's fine with me doing this, alright?"
Marinette shook her head before adding, "Well, we're just glad you're here. Both of you." She and Alya wrap their arms around each other, her look of excitement soon turning to concern. "But, is it really safe for us to be doing this?" At that question, her three friends tensed a bit and their eyes darted around. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean-"
"No, I get it, dudette," said Nino. He nervously scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, my moms weren't exactly thrilled driving me here."
Alya chuckled. "Same with my dad. Nora actually considered tying me to a chair until the lock-in ends."
Unbeknownst to their friends and each other, Marinette and Adrien were thinking about the Akuma that's taken them as Ladybug and Chat Noir more than up to five hours to defeat, two days in total. Soon to be three. Just their luck, the Akuma only comes out at night time, throwing their civilian sleep schedules out of whack. Whatever they try to catch it, the Akuma always evades them by spewing red acid-like spit at them before feeling the area.
"And you're absolutely sure your pops didn't have a stroke?"
Adrien snorted at such a question, but he supposed it made sense for Nino to ask that. His own father was letting him go to an all-night school even with his friends while there was an Akuma running around... Maybe he did have a stroke.
"Hey," Marinette said with a clap of her hands. "Forget I said anything. Let's just all head inside, relax, and forget about this Akuma."
"You're right, girl!" Alya cheered as she took hold of Marinette's hand and pulled her up the stairs. "Let the lock-in begin!"
