Where did it all go wrong?

You were currently sitting outside the emergency room, head in your hands as you shed endless tears.

You thought everything was just fine so how did you end up here? It's like every time you think things are going well they suddenly take a turn for the worse.

Izana was inside the emergency room, he's been in there for half an hour now with you waiting outside.

You had just finished work and arrived home when you found him unconscious on the ground, foaming at the mouth.

You dialed for an ambulance right away, but the amount of fear plaguing your heart couldn't waver at the thought of losing someone so precious to you.

To be honest, you noticed the extent of Izana's mood had dropped lately and you were planning to surprise him with a day off together.

That's why you had been working extra hours so you could spend time with him... but now you could only pray that he'd be okay.

You aren't sure how much time had passed but it surely felt like years as you waited for the doctor to come out of the emergency room.

"L/N-san," you stood up immediately as soon as you heard the doctor's voice call your name.

"How is he?" You asked, chest heavy as you awaited a response.

"He'll live," he replied, and suddenly breathing felt a little easier. "We're not sure when he'll wake up but the naloxone solution worked fine against the medications he took."

You nodded, hugging yourself with your arms. "Thank you."

"For now we'll keep him in the ICU, you can stay and accompany him," he continued professionally. "We'll be sending in a psychiatrist to speak with him when he wakes up."

"I understand, thank you. But you should know I cannot afford for him to continuously see a therapist."

"I understand L/N-san. And thank you for bringing him here on time," he replied, offering you a kind smile. "I'll have a nurse come over to assist you with getting to his unit."

* * *

It flashed through your mind countless times, getting home and finding Izana unconscious on the ground like that.

It was traumatizing, to say the least, you couldn't shake off the goosebumps along your arms. But to you that wasn't important, right now all you cared about was Izana and his well being.

You weren't sure how he'd react to having a psychiatrist but you were hoping it wouldn't be bad, you just wanted the best for him, was it really that much to ask for?

You sat next to his unconscious form in the ICU, the sound of the heart monitor beating steadily was the only thing that covered the harsh silence.

You sniffled, wiping away your tears as your free hand held onto his gently.

"I know it's hard baby, I know you're suffering so much... but I need you... I need you and I can't give up on you... s-so please don't give up on yourself, okay?" You kiss the back of his hand, your own trembling from the overwhelming amount of raw emotion flooding over you.

You aren't exactly sure how or when you got so emotionally attached to him, but you did, and you realize now that somewhere deep down you've developed feelings for the boy.

He made you smile all the time without even knowing it, and despite those painful arguments you've had with him, it didn't change a thing.

You just wanted him to wake up already, he was scaring you.

Kakucho had called you earlier to check up on you, he had been worried about you for a while. He was your best friend, so he was obviously the first to notice your exhaustion seeping through. But you didn't want to worry him, he's always taken care of you and you could never thank him enough for that.

You didn't tell him what happened, but he understood that you just needed comfort, and that's exactly what he gave you the moment you picked up the phone crying your heart out.

He definitely became more worried, but you clearly weren't in the state to speak on it, so he stayed with you on the phone, offering you words of love and comfort.

He was like a brother to you and he used to mean the whole world to you, but as you grew older your world grew a little bit bigger when Izana stepped into the picture.

The sudden twitch of Izana's hand in yours grabbed your attention as your head snapped in his direction. "Izana?"

"...Y/N?" He mumbled softly, slowly fluttering his eyes open.

You stood up instantly, moving the hair away from his forehead as you put on a smile for him. "I'm here, how are you feeling pretty?" Your voice was raw and dry after your much needed crying fiesta earlier.

"Tired," he whispered, staring at you with sad eyes.

He could see how tired you were, and it was obvious from your swollen eyes and red nose that you'd been crying.

Your eyes watered as the scene replayed in your head, and when his hand squeezed yours softly, you managed to snap out of it, wiping your tears quickly. "Ah, I'm sorry," you laughed. "I didn't mean to cry in front of you."

His own eyes watered as well as he bit his lip, "I'm sorry, Y/N."

"Hm? There's nothing for you to be sorry for, pretty. You just need to focus on getting better, okay?" You leaned down and kissed his forehead.

His eyes fluttered shut, causing his tears to fall down his cheeks as he sniffled slightly. "I—I—"

"Shhh, it's okay, you don't have to say anything." You whispered, caressing his cheek. "We're gonna be okay."
