USAGE OF BOLD TAGS & ITALICSWhat is a bold tag?
A bold tag is used to display the written text in bold format. It is strictly a presentational element. If you want to show your text in bold letters and not have real semantic meaning, you use them.
What is an italicized word?
To put it in simple terms, an italicized word is simply a word with the italics effect applied to it.How they look:
Italics: Italics
Bold Tags: Bold Tags
When do you use italics and bold tags?
Now here, most people do have a misconception that both bold tags, and italics imply the same thing. To clear it out, no they do not.
In a write-up, the most common form of emphasis used is italics. Bold tags, of course, are used to put emphasis— but on a larger scale. You cannot use it for simple scenarios, like putting emphasis on a word or a phrase in a dialogue or paragraph, to change the tone. You italicize the words for this purpose.
On the other hand, like I mentioned above, bold tags are used for a heavier emphasis. They rarely ever have their place in a book, to be real.
Chapter titles in bold aren’t new; but texts? Nope. It’s almost never right. Italics does the job better.Examples:
ITALICS
Can be used for flashbacks, inner thoughts, dreams or memories, and foreign words.
BOLD TAGS
Can be used for chapter titles, or internet titles.
That was all for this week. Thank you for joining in.✨
