After the game, Y/N drunkenly made her way home. She crawled into bed and was dead to the world after exhausting herself physically with the tree chopping, and mentally with the socializing. When she woke up she walked outside and saw how messy her farm still was. "Okay for now I just need to get some plants planted and make some money. I can worry about the dream aesthetic later." So Y/N cleared enough space for her parsnips and a few more rows of cauliflower. She planted and watered the parsnips and felt like she was reaching her limit. She decided to spend the rest of her day fishing. When she was exhausted she went home and went to sleep. The next day she just watered her plants and fish in the hopes that she would get enough money from that to get her cauliflower seeds. She put a bountiful amount of fish in the shipping container and felt confident she'd have enough for her seeds. She went to bed eagerly awaiting the money. When she awoke she had more money than she needed, so she headed to the store and bought her seeds. She planted and watered them and looked at her field of plants. She thought they looked rather naked without a fence so she made a little enclosure for it out of wood. When she was done she felt satisfied and decided to just admire her farm, albeit small at the moment. Y/N was lost in thought when the sound of approaching footsteps snapped her out of it
"Wow, we were wondering why we hadn't seen you for a few days!" Y/N recognized Abigail's voice and saw her and Sam entering her property. Y/N was happy to see her new... friends? Are these people friends? They had just shown up at her house unannounced, which was rather friendly of them.
"I woke up and was annoyed with how the farm didn't look like a farm so I've had my nose to the grindstone" Y/N rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly. Y/N silently wondered where Sebastian was but thought it best not to ask. She didn't want his close friends to know she was curious about him. Sam hopped up on my freshly made fence and sat on it.
"Well the place looks great, it's like an actual farm again now!" Sam grinned at her. Y/N felt pink rising to her cheeks and looked away.
"It's really nice having such a clear visual of my progress. At Joja it just felt endless.. trying to get through a brick wall with a spoon." Y/N shook her head like an etch a sketch "all the more reason I'm so glad to be here." Y/N leaned back on her porch and Abigail leaned beside her.
"Me and Sam were gonna head to the saloon for drinks and pizza and were wondering if you wanted to come." She looked Y/N up and down " After you clean yourself up and get changed." Y/N suddenly remembered she probably looked like a mess with dirt all over from putting the fence posts in the ground. Y/N was very pleased that they had gone out of their way to invite her.
"Sure I'll just be a few minutes." Y/N walked into her house, washed her face and arms, then got dressed in some clean clothes. After she gave herself a nod of approval in the mirror she walked back outside to walk with Sam and Abigail to the saloon. While they were walking Y/N kept thinking about if Sebastian was going to be there and finally decided there was no harm in just asking if he'd be there.
"So is Sebastian gonna be meeting us at the bar?" Abigail gave her a suspicious look and replied
"Nah, he says he has to work today." Y/N wasn't sure if she felt relieved or disappointed.
"Yeah, he's usually in his room programming stuff. He rarely comes and hangs out with us anymore!" Sam added with a salty attitude. Abigail did an "it is what it is." Shrug.
"Well, we'll have fun getting to know each other over drinks! If Sebastian misses out on the fun then that's on him!" Abigail said as she put an arm on Sam and Y/N's shoulders. When they made it to the saloon they ordered a pizza and a round of drinks. They sat in their lounge area with the pool table and chatted.
"I fucking love pizza." Sam spoke through a mouthful of pizza while holding a half-eaten slice in one hand and a fresh slice in the other. Y/N chuckled at the sight
"Is pizza your favorite food?" Y/N asked
"Of course pizza is my favorite food! Pizza is the king of food, and anyone who says otherwise is crazy!" Abigail and Y/N both laughed. The conversation continued similarly while they ate their pizza and got more drinks. After just hanging out two times Y/N felt close to these two, so she asked
"Do you guys have Snapchat?" Abigail smiled
"Yeah, here I'll give you mine and Sam's. Oh! We can take a picture together and post it on my story." We all sat on the couch and took a picture raising our drinks and Abby labeled it "cheers!" And posted it. They hung out for another hour and Y/N decided she should probably head to bed so she could get some early morning fishing done.
"Well, I've gotta be up early so I should probably head home. Plants to water fish to catch, ya know." She stood up and grabbed her purse and saw Sam stand with her in her peripheral vision.
"Mind if I walk you home?" He asked, looking a little flushed. Y/N chuckled a bit
"If you think you can make the trip I'd love some company." Y/N silently screamed at the eagerness in her tone, and she and Sam walked out of the bar together. The coolness of the night air was refreshing, and the sky was clear so the stars were bright out in this countryside town.
"It's nice to have another friend in town. With just Sebastian and Abigail I get so bored!" Y/N laughed a little bit
"Well I'm not sure how entertaining my company is, but I'm glad we're friends." Y/N gave Sam a warm smile. Sam himself had said it, he and Y/N were officially friends.
"You should come to watch our band practice some time. It's a lot of fun, and the more the merrier." Y/N had always been a pretty good singer. She didn't usually do it in front of people because it was too anxiety-inducing, but she said
"I'm a pretty good singer." Sam leaned back and stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"Oh realllyyy?" He looked Y/N up and down "Then why don't you sing for me a little?" Y/N rubbed the back of her neck
"Oh, I usually don't sing in front of other people. Just spooky to me." Sam looked at her uncharacteristically serious
"I am a music lover. I love to hear music and I don't judge. I won't pressure you, but I'd love to hear it." Maybe it was the drink, maybe I was Y/N's confidence in her voice, or maybe it was the sincerity of what Sam said. Whatever the case Y/N decided to sing for Sam.
"Okay, but would you like not look at me when I do it?" Sam held his arms in front of his chest like an x
"No can do you clearly need some confidence training, and there's no time like the present." Y/N huffed at him and tried to think of a good song. She decided to sing a little bit of the song Heavy by Linkin Park. When she was done Sam had the biggest grin Y/N had ever seen him wear and he was holding his phone. She heard her own voice come from it and saw that he had recorded her on Snapchat! She lunged for the phone but Sam just held it above his head well out of Y/N's reach. She tried jumping for a minute until she was tired then she crossed her arms and pouted at him. He put his arms to his sides and waved them up and down slightly in a "calm down" motion.
"I'm not gonna post it or anything, I just wanted to send it to the band! You're amazing Y/N! You should join the band!" Y/N huffed at Sam
"I don't like singing in front of people Sam! I said that!" Y/N exclaimed. Sam laughed at that
"It's not like we actually play for people, it's just for fun!" He then sent the video to Sebastian and Abby and wiggled his eyebrows mischievously. Y/N gave an exasperated sigh
"I guess I'll think about it, but I don't know how much free time I'll have when things pick up in the summer on the farm." Sam smiled and clapped his hands together.
"Yes! Just think about it! Please say you'll come to band practice." He was giving Y/N the puppy dog eyes again
"Yeah, yeah, just let me know when." They arrived at her farm and said their goodbyes. Y/N went to bed and hoped band practice was far far away. She did not like the idea of singing in front of three people.
