END OF THE SALE

YES!

I finally got a hold of my dream pair of basketball shoes. I’ve been eyeing them for months but felt they were too expensive. I’d go past the same store every week to see if they were still in stock and if they’ve been put on sale. Months went by. No sale.

But in the most unlikely area and at a time I wasn’t expecting it, I found my dream shoes in another shoe store — and they only had one pair left in my size.

The best part is they were on sale — at 40 percent off!

I walked out of the store with a big smile on my face. Thank You, Lord!

I have a knack for finding bargains. Most of the stuff I own I bought at half-price. I love the concept of a sale. Who doesn’t? It’s great getting something for a lesser price than what it’s really worth.

But there are disadvantages of being a sucker for bargains — especially when you’re dealing with your soul.

Oftentimes I find myself bargaining that which is priceless. I trade my soul for something worth a lot less, but at the time looks like a bargain — a cheap thrill, a moment of shallow satisfaction, a second of sinful pleasure. Because sin always comes to us saying, “Here I am, take me. For free. It’s easy. Go for it!”

And a sucker like me will fall for that.

In the end, I actually end up paying for more than what I got.

Bad, bad bargain.

But here’s the best deal of all: Even if I fall countless times, I can still go back to the Father because He has ultimately paid the price for my salvation.

Yes, salvation is free, but it didn’t come cheap.

God gave up His only begotten Son, and the Son gave the very last drop of His precious blood to set me free.

And that was the end of the sale.
