Things at the small camp were, surprisingly, going smoothly. Of course there were still fights, almost daily. But nobody has threatened to kill anyone or pulled a weapon on someone else in about a week. That's a win in Bash's book.
Bash and Dale were sitting by the fire pit, obviously there was no fire as it was sometime in the afternoon but there weren't many options for chairs as Lori and Carol had the kids doing homework.
Bash wanted no part in that. As if one of the kids for some reason asked for his help. He'd have no clue. It was slightly embarrassing that these twelve year olds knew more than him when it came to school work.
Even though it didn't really matter now days if he did or didn't know his eight times tables, he's twenty two and that would give the other adults (mostly Glenn and probably Shane) something to tease him about.
He also wouldn't put it past Lori to make him do homework with the kids.
Besides he liked being with Dale, they'd gotten really close since his first night with the group. He loved listening to his stories from before everything went down. Dale also loved listening to Bash's stories, even when there were things obviously missing or he'd stop halfway through, the older man wouldn't push him for details.
He'd give him a simple, knowing smile and a nod and ask Bash to grab him something like water or his jacket. He didn't need them and would very rarely drink any of the water, it was a way to change the subject.
Dale was the first person since his Uncle died that he truly trusted.
He'd also bonded with Glenn, they joked about the times they've helped each other. Or how they'd bumped into each other before shit hit the fan
Glenn had told the group one night about the time someone stole a pineapple pizza he was delivering, they ended up giving it back saying 'pineapple on pizza is just incorrect man, gimme' the other one' everyone laughed at this and started a friendly debate about the pizza topping.
When Bash interpret 'What company did you work for?' after Glenn told him Bash burst out laughing. He was the guy who stole the pizza.
He'd become friends, or at least friendly acquaintances with most of the group. He still had a mutual dislike with Shane, he and Andrea weren't too fond of each other. But he didn't really care.
He got along really well with the Dixon brothers, being invited to hunt with them on occasion or if one of them (Merle) didn't want to hunt but they had to anyway, he'd go with.
Even though Merle was a dick 97% of the time, that 2% when he wasn't being awful they got along pretty well.
Bash was also the only person in camp, besides Merle, that Daryl could tolerate being around for long periods of time.Daryl sometimes found himself enjoying the other's company. He had an identity crisis after he realised that and went hunting alone for several days, came back with a lot of dead animals and looked like a walker as he was covered in blood. But it was fine after that.
