AVERY HAD A strong dislike towards the girl named Persephone Potter. It started in their fifth year, when the girl had stepped on him and didn't apologize for the painful foot that ached him the entire week. ❨ Avery still likes to believe she broke a bone, despite what Madam Pomfrey said. ❩ He let that slide, well, not entirely but he tried for Malfoy's sake, as the boy had a crush on the she devil. It would've been entirely fine if destroying his fragile foot had been the only crime the girl did against him, but alas, Avery has another tale to tell with a heavy heart. He was bitter towards the girl because in the same year, she stepped on his hamster. Now, most wouldn't care about it but the hamster meant a lot to Avery, after all, his brother got him the pathetic thing as a bribe to keep his mouth shut about his whereabouts to their parents.

And Avery adored little Peanut. Until Persephone Potter used her feet as a weapon and killed her. He couldn't let this one slide, even for Malfoy. So he strayed further from her, really not wanting to do anything with her. His perfect plans of solitude were thwarted by a sour Tom Riddle, complaining about how Malfoy was taking Persephone away from him.

Avery needs clarification here, what is so damn special about Persephone? From what he's gathered ❨ and trust him when he says it's not much ❩ she's not much to look at, like she was as ugly as sin and Avery had loudly announced that the night Malfoy finally took ahold of his balls and accompanied the Slytherin girl on her Prefect duties.

Unfortunately, Avery forgot about the existence of Aaron Lestrange and how good of friends he was with the little snake.

Lestrange loved Persephone Potter with every cell his body can produce. He felt this overwhelming feeling to protect her. From what? He didn't exactly know. Should he protect her from people like himself? Or people like Malfoy? Lestrange guessed that Malfoy was better, after all, Malfoy didn't kill his sister because he needed to prove his unwavering loyalty to a boy his age.

The pair became friends in their first year, as Persephone decided to sit next to Lestrange right after her sorting. ❨ Call him mad if you will, but Lestrange liked to believe the Fates made sure it happened. ❩ Her face had been an odd mixture of excitement, confusion and sadness and when Lestrange asked her in his eleven year old squeaky voice if she was alright, she had grinned so wide he swore he saw the back of her throat and said she was doing better now.

Persephone Potter never judged him. She was the type of person who would die fighting alongside you, the person who do anything for you without asking any questions. Lestrange knew this, she helped him bury the body of his younger sister in total silence, tears streaming down her cheeks. But she never asked why he did it or why her after that. She held her mouth and pretended that it never happened.

Which is why Lestrange pounded on Avery the minute he disrespected his best and only friend.

Both boys were seeing red as they carelessly swung their heavy fists, Avery managing to land a blow on the bridge of his nose and even though it hurt like fucking hell, Lestrange returned the kind gesture by poking him in his eyes, and landing a punch on his jaw with such force his knuckles ached after that. He glared at him, fingers curling around the front of his shirt.

"That's my friend you're disrespecting Avery!" Lestrange hit him with his head and even when he felt Avery loose his grip a little, he threw a punch, and another, blood splashing on his face yet he didn't care.
