Adeline still remembers the time of her youth, when her fathers would take her to visit the Shimada's and when she would play with Genji and Hanzo. Their frienship was the result of the Shimada and Haimizu clan alliance, an alliance started when Adeline had just turned one years of age.

Before the Aravilla clan was formed, the two grand clans of Japan were that of the Shimada's and the Eithne's. The two rivals were notorious for starting gang wars in the streets of Japan and leaving a trail of bodies whenever they would clash. The Eithne clan was known for their outside alliances with crime groups in America and Mexico. One of these clans, the Kai's, was Eithne's greatest ally. And when the leader of the Eithne clan, Yamikage, fell in love with the new Kai leader, Ronan, the clans were bound for nothing but greatness. Their marriage was the thing to conjoin the two clans, making them one in Japan. The two clan's name was changed to "The Haimizu Empire'', chosen by Ronan.

Fearing that the Haimizu Empire would attempt to take over the Shimada's territory, the Shimada leader, Sojiro, made an alliance. He figured that if he was on good terms with the Haimizu empire, he would be untouchable amongst other threats such as Talon.

Throughout the years, Yamikage and Ronan dreamed of raising a child to one day take over the clan. And, with the help of some outside assistance, their wish came true and born into the world was Adeline Eithne Kai, the heir to the Haimizu Empire.

Though the alliance, Adeline meet Genji and Hanzo and quickly befriended the two. She was formally introduced to them at the age of three and since that first faithful meeting, the three were inseparable in the time of their youths.

Hanzo was a quiet, stubborn boy who hid his emotions too much. He would always focus on studying or meditating rather than having fun. But Hanzo's secret was that he loved his brother and Adeline and he was very protective over them and always covering for them when they would put on their little acts and tricks. He had a particular fondness for Adeline, always making sure she was alright and that she was fed (Hanzo would leave her snacks and desserts whenever she would visit Shimada castle). Adeline always enjoyed playing around with Hanzo and forcing him into her and Genji's shenanigans. He secretly enjoyed it, but he never showed it.

Genji was always a troublemaker when he was young. He was childish and spoiled. Ever since he met Adeline, he always wanted to be by her side but he didn't know why. He was always jealous of Hanzo since Adeline would talk to him more and Hanzo was always getting praised by Yamikage (Adeline's strict father). Genji was always protective over Adeline, but he would sometimes forget about this nature whenever they were playing, allowing her to get hurt, much to his dismay.

But happy childhood memories never last forever.

Adeline was ten when her families empire was ambushed by Talon and everyone, including her, was left for dead. She watched both her fathers die trying to protect her the empire and, most importantly, her. Before they died, Yamikage and Ronan passed on the ancient clan weapons of Clarity (belonging to the Kai bloodline) and Xiaos (belonging to the Eithne bloodline). Adeline was taken under Sojiro's wing in combat and she became one of the greatest warriors within the clan walls, even rivaling the Shimada brothers.

Throughout her two year stay in Shimada castle, Adeline began to have feelings for Genji, who returned them but was too scared to do anything about it. Genji would often show his love in ways that only a young boy could.

By making fun of her and trying to impress her during training.

But his actions often went deeper than that. Genji was often forced to bite his tongue and hold back his fist whenever Adeline would train with other boys that looked down on her or who fancied her. Hanzo was forced to watch both dorks flirt with one another and NOT get together. There was even an instance where Adeline and Genji sulked and agonized around Shimada castle because Genji lied and said that Sojiro was looking for a bride for him when he was trying to make her jealous of a non-existence girl. It wasn't until Hanzo yelled at both of them that the marriage didn't exist in the first place so that things would go back to normal.
