Get Well Soon - Kuga gets into a car accident and Lonky takes care of him. Human AU. 1.3k words

The two sets of footsteps got closer. One frantic, the other pacing behind.

The curtains rattled open. He felt a painful tight grip on his shoulder.

"You're... awake. Oh my god." The familar voice croaked, shaky and hoarse.

His breathing laboured, he looked at the person standing beside his bed. Though his vision was blurry, he could make out the espression on the tall prince's face. He didn't really look like a prince right now.

"Lonky?" he managed to mutter. His mouth felt dry and uncomfortable.

Lonky thought that he had finished crying in the bathroom earlier. He was wrong. The sight of his friend opening his eyes made his own glassy. He thought he'd never see him do that again. He sniffled, making his sleeves wet as he wiped his tears.

"Excuse me. Mr. Armani? The doctor would like to speak to you." the nurse called out.

"I'll be back." Lonky squeezed his arm and left, following the nurse. His footsteps getting further. Kuga still had no idea what was going on. He just knew something horrible had happened to him. So horrible that he ended up in a hospital, in a condition so weak that his friend cried. It wasn't his first time seeing him in such an emotional state, yet it still hurt his heart.

He really didn't need heartbreak to add to his injuries.

Soon enough, the same nurse came back. The person he anticipated to be there didn't come along with her. She explained to him what happened, and his current condition. It was alot to take in. The room was silent with occasional murmurs, the machine constantly beating. He felt absolutely miserable. He wanted nothing more than to go outside and take in some sunshine.

It's been three hours and he already missed him. Thinking about him never failed to lift his spirits up.

He sighed, resting his head back onto the pillow. He closed his eyes as he drifted back to sleep.

"Hello Ma. It's Lonky, how are you?" He tried his best to sound like he hadn't been crying his heart out.

The old tiger's voice was as sweet as honey, Lonky always felt safe listening to her voice.

"That's good. I'm doing alright." he replied.

"Kuga? Well..." he bit his lip. He hated being the bearer of bad news to his friend's mother.

"He's in... the hospital. He somehow got hit by a drunk driver last night." He clenched his jaw as he heard a gasp from the other side of the phone.

"The doctor said he's lucky. I think he said nothing vital was hurt. He's recovering well so far."

"Yes, I'll take good care of him. See you." He pressed the end call button and flopped onto his chair. He called it his because he's been sitting in the same spot for the whole day. He didn't want to leave Kuga alone. He was ready to deal with his hatred of hospitals for him.

He had recieved the key to Kuga's apartment, which was found at the site of the crash. His apartment wasn't too far from there, still in the same city. He promised himself once Kuga moved into a normal hospital ward he'd go there and take a proper rest, and not on the cold steel chairs.

The doctor confirmed that Kuga was well enough to move into a ward.

When Kuga woke up, he wasn't surrounded by blue curtains anymore. Instead, he was inside a nicely decorated room, with no other beds beside him. The walls were a calming shade of peach. The room was quite spacious. There was even a table for three and a giant TV in front of him. He didn't believe he was in the hospital anymore, but the IV drip attached to his hand made him think otherwise.
