Haruka's POV

I woke up in pain once again, but not in the room I share with Lin and the others, but an empty blue-grey one. I was still in the same room I was dragged into yesterday, after the bloody battle. The injuries I managed to inflict upon her were quite gruesome, and she would need some help healing them before challenging me again. Then I looked down at my wounds, several large slashes starting from the left side of my stomach up to the bottom of my ribs. Why do I always get hurt the most in that region? I huffed before standing up, I was surprised that I was even able to manage that. I leaned on the wall, lifting the hiding spell that I cast upon myself since everyone now knew that I was a spirit. The clothes I was wearing yesterday were stripped off, leaving me in nothing but my black bra and leggings. I transfigured the leggings into light blue jeans and conjured a white button-up shirt, not bothered enough to button it up. Human clothes were comfortable, and I liked their style.

Lin started walking in, nearly crying with joy when she saw me. I inhaled sharply as she pulled me into a tight embrace, clearly forgetting that I was still injured.

"Might want to loosen up your death hug," I said in a joking manner.

"Oh yeah, right. Sorry Haruka, or shall I say. god spirit." I gave her a warm smile.

"No need to say that, just because I happen to be a spirit doesn't change anything between us two." She sighed in relief

"Thank god! I was hoping you'd say that." I chuckled as she pulled out something from her pink tunic.

"I brought this for you, though you might be hungry after that heated battle yesterday. You always seem to be injured whenever I see you you know."

"Well, it's not like I can help that Lin," I said as she passed me an onigiri. Then I got a brilliant idea.

"Wanna go out to the forest?"

"Well, it's pretty far. I dunno..." I raised an eyebrow.

"You can ride on my back, I won't mind." She looked at me, clearly filled with joy and excitement.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" She giggled as I grabbed her arm, dashing out into the sunshine.

"You ready?"

"Huh? Ready for what?" Lin asked, I smirked and threw her up into the air. She screamed in fear and delight before landing on my furry back. I chuckled as I warned her.

"Might wanna hold on Lin." She gripped my fur tightly as I picked up my pace, going into a full sprint. She yelled and hooted in pure delight until I came to a stop at a tree, I leaped up turning back into my human form. Holding out my hand and beckoning her to follow, she gladly grabbed it and screamed as I pulled her up and flung her to the next 3 branches. We continued to do so until we got up to about three-quarters of the way up, perching ourselves on a thick branch. Then out of nowhere, she nudged me.

"So." She said, wiggling her eyebrows. "You and Haku, what going on with you two lovebirds?" She smirked slightly.

"What are you talking about Lin?" She scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"You know perfectly well what I'm talking about! The way you look at each other and everything, and you should have seen his face when he saw you!" I stared at her for a few seconds before bursting out in laughter. She was joking, right?

"Whatever, let's go higher Haruka!" Lin made her way up, I recovered from my laughing fit before following her. When I reached the top, however, Lin pushed me forwards. Making me crash backward into a branch that wrapped its arms around me, wait. Wrapped its arms?

"Um, hi " I heard a voice, one that I knew too well. I turned my neck to see Haku looking down at me.

"Hi Haku, Lin. What the hell were you thinking?" I flicked my hand at her and a flock of tickle birds started to peck and tickle her, I stopped them at the point where she was on her knees and begged them to stop. Lin turned to us with a devilish grin on her face.

"Haku? How long are you planning to hold Haruka for? You two lovebirds." My face heated up and Haku hastily let go of me.

"Just what I thought." Lin snickered and I growled, I felt something rise on my head.

"Oh my god Haruka, that is sooo cute!!!!" She made some strange noises and started to jump up and down a bit. I tilted my head in question and pat my head, trying to find what she was talking about. I touched two furry things, my ears seemed to of appeared, half-covered in my blond mess.

"Seriously Lin, it's not that cute," I mumbled, shaking my head and making the two furry ears disappear again. Lin was clearly disappointed that I did it, but her face suddenly shifted into a worried one when we heard a snap of the branch.

Haruka's POV

I took a sharp breath in, looking at Lin. She looked so scared and worried, and even though she's a spirit she still wouldn't be able to survive the drop. It was far too high up, I glance at her again, but maintained eye contact this time. I yell a bunch of instructions to her.

"Lin, slowly walk backward to the next tree and jump. Don't hesitate, just do it before it cracks again and becomes too unstable." She quickly nods and does what I say, slowly backing up and pausing at the edge of the high branch, and giving me a scared look. I give her a nod of encouragement to tell her it's okay, that she'll be okay.

"Don't die Haruka, or I'll swear I'll bring you back to life and kill you again!" She yells before taking the leap of faith, jumping and flailing her arms around like some sort of fish out of the water and screaming before landing on a thick branch with a heavy thud and slightly stumbling. Before anything else could happen there was another low moan as I shifted my weight, the branch snapping entirely and throwing me up into the air.

I don't scream because it's stuck in my dry throat, I outstretch my arm, trying desperately hard to grab onto a branch or a stick or something that would stop me from becoming scrambled eggs.

I miss by a mile, the green grass drawing closer and closer to me, I squeeze my eyes shut, not wanting to see when I'll hit the ground. I wait for impact, but it doesn't happen. Or am I already dead because that didn't hurt at all? I slowly open an eye, finding myself just centimeters above the ground, grass slightly brushing against my ankles. But that isn't the surprising thing, the surprising thing is the warm pair of arms that are wrapped tightly around me, my face buried in a broad and equally warm chest. I immediately un-tense as I hear a soothing but slightly worried voice.

" Don't ever do that again Haruka, you almost died." I smile slightly, knowing who the voice belonged to. "Nah little lizard, you can't get rid of me that easily." He chuckles slightly before untangling his arms from me and setting me back onto the ground, I was slightly disappointed but didn't show it, the canopy leaves up above rustling before a pink figure came into view.

" Haruka! Haru - oh my god Haruka, you had me so worried, so worried. Glad you're not dead yet, we've still got so much to do together and I'm sure the lizard over there wouldn't take it lightly either." She grabbed me and pulled me into a death hug. "Lin it's great to see that you care for me and everything but it wouldn't be any better if you kill me because of your bone-crushing hugs." I laugh as she quickly let go of me, giggling herself.

"Thank god your lizard was here to save you." My face heated up a little, Lin wiggling her eyebrows and giving me a know it all look. But I decided to ignore it and turned on my heel, huffing, and morphing. I swished my tail at her, making her stumble a little, she huffed like me and pushed Haku forwards, telling him to hop on " Come on Lizard, let's go." I felt him mounting on me and running his fingers through my soft snow-white fur, Lin planting herself heavily towards the end of my body soon after. I smirk, starting at a small trot to make them think that that this will be an easy and gentle ride.

Oh, how wrong they were.
