It was almost a week since I had met Theo. He was an amazing dancer, and a better person. It was so easy to talk to him that I often forgot we had met less than a week ago. I took him home one day.

Mima opened the door, a little surprised to see a boy with me. I generally brought only Levane here.
I introduced the two, and cleared the confusion in Mima's head by saying that he was my dance partner.

"Hello Mrs. Beets," Theo greeted.

"Ah, you're Avalon's friend, so call me Mima. Come in!"

Theo stepped into the house and looked around. It was huge, given the fact that my parents were very rich. He did not, however, drop his jaw in awe, a reaction I commonly received. I was a little relieved to avoid that awkward moment.

"Your parents are Stephen and Kimberly Jones right? Of the Jones Petrakis Magnates?" He asked.

"Yes," I replied.

I walked him around the house after we ate some delicious pasta prepared by Mima. He stopped near the wall filled with photos and frowned.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"Is that you?" He asked, pointing to a picture where I was just a baby of about three.

"Yeah, why?"

"Nothing," he replied, but I noticed that his frown deepened. I couldn't make out anything from his facial expression. It was like he was worried about something, and relieved at the same time.

But his expression soon became normal, and we continued talking.

-----

Once while he dropped me home, we ran into my mom. She was definitely more considerate than my dad. At least she acknowledged us.

"Who's this?" She asked me.

"Theo," I replied. "He's my new dance partner."

"Well, hello Theo. Maybe you should come inside?"

Mom was being sweet, but somehow, I couldn't help feeling there was something wrong here. Mom didn't even appreciate Levane coming to our house! Why was Theo so special?

"Nice to meet you Mrs. Jones. But I best be on my way."

"Where do you live?" Mom asked Theo.

"A few blocks from here," he replied.

"Then I'm sure it is not a problem. Come in!"

Reluctantly, Theo agreed. Whatever happened to my mom today?

We sat down in the living room, and Mrs. Beets served tea.

"So where are you from, Theo?" Mom enquired.

"I was born in France, ma'am, but my parents travel a lot so I never stayed in a country for more than two years; till we finally came here, to New York, around a month or two ago."

"Oh! So how didn't I see you before, if we live that close?"

"We moved into this house only a week ago."

"That explains it," mom replied.

They made small talk for a few more minutes, till it fell awkwardly silent.

"You know Theo," my mom suddenly said. "That accent of yours sounds strangely familiar."

Wow. I thought it was a pretty rare accent; but then its possible that one of her clients traveled a lot too.

Theo seemed to have thought the same thing, since he replied that it must be one of her clients.

Mom didn't seem to convinced, but she nodded anyway. Theo left soon after that, and mom turned to me.
