- friday night: movie night

"ricky did what?" gina asks as the rest of the girls left the popcorn station. ashlyn and kourtney shortly followed after, trying their best to hear nini.

"he twisted jack's arm so he wouldn't hang out with me," nini explained with annoyance, "that's why he stood me up."

"why didn't jack text you that though?" kourtney asked with curiosity. nini shrugged her shoulders.

"that doesn't even sound like something ricky would do though," ashlyn pointed out, defending ricky. the other three girls nodded their head in agreement. ashlyn continued, "like when did this even happen?"

"i'm not lying, guys," nini breathed out, noticing the disbelief in her friend's faces, "ricky told me himself."

"he did?" gina asked with shock.

"yes, he literally told me today when i confronted him," nini stated. before the girl continue ranting, ashlyn nudged nini's side. they all eyed ricky as he walked into the gym with the rest of the boys.

"are you gonna talk to him?" kourtney asked while nini and ricky steal a glance at each other. nini shakes her head.

"welp too late, looks like they're all coming here," gina whispered before the boys reached them.

"so where do you guys wanna sit?" seb asked. ricky and nini stayed silent as the rest of their friends bickered amongst each other. they decided to sit near the back. red, carlos, and ej were already setting up the blankets and pillows on the floor while everyone else prepped the food or talked.

ricky sighed as he glanced at nini. she was silent, avoiding eye contact with him. he knew that nini could see him but the girl never acknowledged ricky.

"neens-"

"i'm gonna get a slushee," nini announced, cutting off ricky before he could get the chance to talk to her. before the girl could run off, ricky spoke up.

"great, me too!" ricky announced. nini shot ricky a glare but he only answered with a sly smirk. everyone looked at each other with wide eyes, feeling the tension between the two.

nini walked in a fast pace with ricky chasing after her. ricky reached out and pulled nini back, "slow down."

"why don't you just walk faster?" nini muttered, attempting to yank her grip out of ricky's hand but the boy was too strong. nini gave in and let ricky drag her outside of the gymnasium to the parking lot.

"are you really mad at me about the whole jack thing?"

"you can't be serious right now."

"it's a genuine question," ricky stated, "i didn't know you'd be this upset?"

"you basically threatened jack to not hang out with me knowing damn well that i had crush on him."

"had?"

"oh my god-"

" -so you don't like him anymore?"

nini cocked an eyebrow at ricky, "why? why are you so caught up with my feelings for jack??"

"i-i'm not," ricky quickly defended himself, "i'm just wondering."

nini shook her head and sighed. she took a step closer to ricky, "do you... do you like me or something?"

ricky got taken aback, "no! what?"

"then why'd you try to kiss me??"

"i.. i don't know? you were looking at me like you wanted me to kiss you!" ricky frantically yelled.
