ricky and nini fell silent as they eyed their friends reaction. after a moment of stillness, all seven of them burst out laughing. ricky and nini glanced at each other before fake laughing as well.

"oh no!! how could they!!" ej sarcastically said and gave lily a dumb look.

"they're best friends, what are you on right now?" gina asked lily with a look of resentment, "and if they were dating, what does that have to do with you or me? like who cares, it's high school."

lily rolled her eyes and looked down to the floor with embarrassment and anger. jack stayed silent, studying nini and ricky. antoine and howie stepped forward.

"why don't you let the couple speak for themselves?" antoine spat, crossing his arms across his chest.

howie let out a snicker and nodded his head in agreement, "go ahead, the floors yours rini."

nini grew anxious. she knew ricky wanted to keep them a secret because of everything that's been going on. she didn't know what to say. ricky contemplated a hundred things at once before a sly smirk emerged from his lips.

"awesome thanks," ricky sarcastically said to howie. nini looked up at ricky who stood up from the table.

"what are you doing?" she whispered.

"hello?! hey! everyone! YOOOO, im speaking!" ricky yelled throughout the cafeteria. the whole cafeteria looked up from their meals and at the loud boy. ricky continued, "i would like to make an announcement—"

"—ricky! what are you doing??" nini asked the boy, tugging at his sweater to sit back down. ricky ignored the girl.

"thanks to howard, over here—"

"—it's howie," the boy interrupted ricky with a look of annoyance. ricky gave howie a snarky smile.

"i know it is, thanks! anyways! thanks to howard," ricky simply continued, making howie roll his eyes. "i now have the floor to announce one of my greatest achievements of all time!"

nini fell into a nervous smile at ricky's words. their friends were confused, humored, and intrigued. jack, lily, howie, and antoine looked annoyed. the group's recent attempts of trying to ruin nini and ricky's life have been failing.

ricky gently grabbed nini's hands and pulled her up. he gave her a sweet smile before raising their interlocked hands in the air, "the gorgeous, might i say, nini salazar-roberts is now my girlfriend! & i would like to thank everyone for taking a pause on their chocolate pudding cups and room temperature tater tots to hear my announcement! thank you!"

the cafeteria fell into an array of applauses, cooing, and cheers. it was high school, people hype anything up. all of their friends repeatedly banged their fists on the table with excitement and wide smiles gleaming from their faces. before ricky and nini knew it, the chant "kiss! kiss! kiss!" echoed throughout the room.

ricky looked at nini with questioning eyes. nini's cheeks reddened but she nodded her head with a shy smile. ricky nervously chuckled before he quickly pulled nini into his arms.

the girl let out a squeal and soon met ricky's eyes. "you're crazy, you know that?" nini whispered to ricky.

"for you? totally," ricky answered in a smooth voice.

"bars," ej chirped in. they all let out a laugh.

ricky melted into a grin before connecting his lips with nini. they could hear the screams and applause from their friends and the rest of the cafeteria. it was a short and simple kiss. ricky and nini pulled away with red cheeks and shy smiles.
