(Kylie's P.O.V.)

I smacked the volleyball down, dribbling it a couple times to prepare my hand for serving. Then I steadied my feet, tossed the ball into the air and sent it flying to Timberland High School's side of the net, who easily sent it back.
We had a volley going for a bit, until Caitlyn Ross, a tall, long-limbed girl in the tenth grade shouted "Mine!" and jumped up to spike it at the floor on the other side of the net. A really thin, black haired girl on their team screamed and jumped away from the ball.
"Rebecca!!" their captain, Lindsay Morgan yelled at the girl. "Why are you even here if you're not gonna try?!"
"I'm sorry!" Rebecca cried in a squeaky voice. She looked probably only fourteen or fifteen, an obvious freshman.
"Lindsay!" their coach shouted, and she rolled her eyes and quieted down.
Lindsay was a reddish-brown haired girl with big brown eyes, and sort of curvy, but small at the same time. Lockwood and Timberland were rival schools, and Lindsay has always been extra bitchy. Especially on game day.
Lindsay threw the ball to me to serve and I smacked it on the floor again. I served it over the net, and then Lindsay ran forward from her spot and spiked it at us. Jessica Milton tried to save it but it bounced off her elbows and it hit the net.
  "Yes!" Lindsay cheered.
  "Jessie, you okay?" I checked.
"Yeah, I'm cool," she said, rubbing her right elbow which apparently got a blow from the ball enough to make it bright red.
"Kay," I said. I would've made more sure of it, but Lindsay was about to serve so I got back to my spot and waited.
As she threw it in the air and was about to hit it, the long, loud and very startling sound of several air horns filled the gym, along with cheers and 'woo's from our bleachers. Lindsay jumped, and the ball rolled off her fingers and landed a couple feet ahead of her, still on her side of the court.
My head whipped around to see what was going on, and there stood Evan, Jake and Ryan on the far right of the very top bleachers, holding up three big air horns, totally decked out in our team's colors. Ryan even painted half his face red and half white.
Evan was still pressing hard on the button of his air horn, and shouting, "LOCKWOOD RULES, TIMBERLAND DROOLS," through a huge Bulldogs mega phone cone thing.
"GO HOME!" I screamed at them.
"Kylie Olivia Hartman is the most beautiful girl in the world!" Evan shouted through the cone.
"Kill me now," I muttered, looking down at my feet and massaging my temples. My face felt hot with both anger and embarrassment.
"I love you!" he shouted directly to me.
Oh, my goodness, I wish I were dead, I thought.
"Will you go out with me?!" Evan shouted and the girls in the crowd all gasped and grinned. They must've thought this was some romantic gesture, but I hated my life at the moment.
Before I could answer, the air horns sputtered and I looked up and saw my dad and the principal chasing them down from the bleachers.
"Dude, go, go, go!!" Evan yelled at his friends and they started running down the bleachers and jumping over people. Then they ran onto the court, and Ryan picked up the ball and tried to balance it on his forehead, while Jake started to spin Caitlyn around. She was yelling at him, but she did start laughing.
  Where's Evan?
Suddenly I felt hands on my shoulders and I heard Evan say, "Kick their asses, Beautiful," then kiss my cheek and run, spinning me around in the process. I was left speechless as my dad and the principal chased the three out of the room.
"Your boyfriend is an idiot!" Lindsay jeered.
"He's not my boyfriend," I said, "but he is an idiot."
