"It has come to my attention that you spent the night with Prince Sampson." is the first thing Adelaine says to Alessandra the following morning at her princess lessons.
"Well when you phrase it like that you make it seem like I committed some type of sin." Alessandra scuffs.
"All we did was look at the stars, we both returned to our own rooms." Alessandra explains.
"I'm glad you two are getting along but you can't go to certain places with him especially at night. Your reputation could be ruined." Adelaine advises her.
"Nothing happened, nothing will happen." Alessandra tries to explain to her.
"If you know what is best for you, something will happen, once you're married of course. That's how you'll secure your place on the throne." Adelaine informs her.
"Are you telling on yourself right now?" Alessandra questions.
"No, no I'm simply just trying to help you from step-mother to step-daughter." Adelaine voices sincerely.
Alessandra huffs at that statement though not finding any reason to try to have a good relationship with her.
"How did you and father meet? Were you his mistress or perhaps an entertainer?" Alessandra asks.
Adelaine chuckles dryly and replies "I am the daughter of a high nobleman and was the lady in waiting for the last Queen. We took light of each other and the rest is history. All though before you question we did not act on our feelings for each other until he had divorced Rose."
"So you were a mistress, just not the typical one." Alessandra grins.
"No, I was not!" Adelaine states back with fluster clear on her face.
"If we are gonna play twenty questions then I guess I shall ask why you detest this marriage so much. It's quite selfish of you, your country needs this alliance." Adelaine remarks.
