Chapter 4: Before the Festival

Kenma POV

After that week's incident, the team still kept their mouth shut. The tension in the air was still suffocating. I thought I knew Kuroo but after all the new situations happening now I know that I don't know him at all. Enough of this sad talk. Well, we practiced volleyball as usual. We were all about to go home but Kuroo's phone rang. 

He looks at the caller ID and takes the phone call. 

"Any news on the two?"-Kuroo

We obviously couldn't hear the caller. 

"So they finally made up. Took them long enough."-Kuroo

"I will be there. I can't wait for the next meeting. We hadn't had one in a while."-Kuroo

Kuroo ended the phone call. What meeting? I should stop prying into his business. He was serious about his secret and I should respect his boundaries but I am honestly too curious. I need to know. I can't just let it go. 

I heard Kuroo mumble. It was something along the lines of that was going to be busier than before. Going home late and only sleeping a couple of hours is not healthy. Yes, I do it too but that doesn't count. 

Kuroo and I said our goodbyes and took a stroll before going back home. 

"I didn't know you rode a motorcycle."

"Yeah. One of my friends helped assemble the parts and after that, I have been riding it since. I have to go to him for a check-up here and there."-Kuroo

"Does your auntie know what you are doing?"

"No. I don't want her to worry about me."-Kuroo

"Isn't not explaining it make her more worried?"

"Maybe but I want to keep something that I treasure. She probably would make me not hang out with them anymore which I can't allow."-Kuroo

This reconfirms Kuroo's love for whatever thing he holds dear even if it is dangerous. I am glad he has something just like me with my games. 

Kuroo dropped me off. 

Kuroo POV

After dropping Kenma off, I went to the temple where Toman always held their meetings. Chifuyu was waiting for my arrival. 

"Baji-san, are you excited for the meeting?"-Chifuyu

"Yeah, I bet Mikey wants to fight with Moebius. I would want to after everything that happened."

"I agree with you Baji-san."-Chifuyu

Draken's booming voice could be heard from miles away. Everyone stopped chattering away and paid attention to Mikey and Draken. 

Mikey walks in front and shouts these words:

" We're going to crush Moebius! On August 3rd during Mushashi festival, we're going for a battle."

Everyone was riled up they all had the same feelings. They want to avenge what happened to Pa-chin and I also thought the same way. 

"Chifuyu, you want to come over and eat peyoung?"

"Yeah, I would love to Baji-san. Could you send me to school first in the morning though?"-Chifuyu

"Let's go home. Yeah, of course, you can't miss school."  

Kenma POV

I was still playing my games. Right now my level is 159 and I just want to level up one more level. I look outside to see Kuroo and Chifuyu on Kuroo's bike. They were blabbering something. To be honest with you, I am somewhat jealous of Chifuyu. He knows Kuroo and the secret that Kuroo is hiding. He also could stop Kuroo when he was furious. I couldn't do anything to stop him. I feel our friendship to be more distant as the days pass. 

I couldn't help but sign. I finished leveling up and just went to sleep. The next morning I woke up to the noise of a bike. I rub my tired eyes and look at where the noise is coming from. Then I heard Kuroo. 

"Chifuyu you better hurry up. We need to drop you off at school. We don't have time for your sleepy ass."-Kuroo

"Baji-san, I am coming! You wake up too early for my liking."-Chifuyu

"Well I don't want to be late because of you so move it."-Kuroo

Chifuyu is stumbling with his shoe half on. Kuroo notices and kneeled down and fixed it for him. Kuroo grabbed Chifuyu's arm and dragged him on his bike. Chifuyu wrapped his arms around Kuroo and snuggled against him.

"Don't fall asleep on me Chifuyu."-Kuroo

"Yeah, I know."-Chifuyu 

I am already awake at this point so I trudged downstairs. I ate my leftover M&Ms for breakfast and left my house. 

I went to school and met Yamamoto. I just waved at him.

"Where is Kuroo?"-Yamamoto

"He will come to school just wait."

Yamamoto and I waited for Kuroo to arrive. We heard loud bike noises. All of the attention went to Kuroo and some of the girls were fangirling. 

"Kenma sorry I couldn't walk with you. Chifuyu slept over and I needed to drag his dead body to his school."-Kuroo

"It is alright Kuroo. Let's just go to class."

"Sure thing. Thanks for waiting."-Kuroo

Kuroo was nonchalant as usual but in my opinion, he is just coming off that way. I know having his friend arrested might way on him. 

After volleyball practice was over, Kuroo walked his bike and me home but before that, he bought me a game as a sorry gift for not being able to spend time with me. 

Kuroo POV

I have August 3rd on my calendar. I check to see how many days were left before the fight. It was 5 more days. Before I took a shower, I did my homework and did basic workouts to prepare for my fight. 

I feel bad for Kenma. I have kept this secret for so long but Chifuyu had to come to pick me up which slightly ruined my secret. Kenma can't fight and isn't a person who likes violence so Toman is definitely not the place for him. 

I bet the others are wondering why Chifuyu calls me Baji. Well, there is a little background story that no one cares about. My dad got milk and never came home one day. He was gone just like Gon's dad. My mom took care of me this whole time so I went by her surname. I still don't like my dad's surname but I would rather not be recognized by Toman's first commander. 

I don't want people who are after me to come to my school and start recking havoc. My mom already went through enough hardships. She doesn't need more shit piling up.

I facetimed Draken, Mikey, and Mitsuya. We talked about the halcyon days where everything was simple and nothing was complicated. We were having fun without a care in the world without even knowing what will happen to Draken on the day of the fight.
