38: Jaehyun hyung

"So," Jaehyun says laughing as if he heard the funniest joke in the world.

"You are in love with my brother?" He looks up glaring at Jungkook the smile disappearing from his face. Jungkook stared at him, the neutral look on his face not faltering as he held Taehyung's warm hand in his cold one.

"That is right," Jungkook says.

"And, just why do you think I would hand him over to you?" He said shrugging casually into his seat, a challenge in his lifeless brown eyes and a mocking smirk on his face. He wasn't even a  ghost of Taehyung, Jungkook realized quickly.

"I don't think Taehyung is a "thing" that should be handed over," Jungkook disagreed whilst frowning and Taehyung looked at him in pride. Jaehyun nodded in acknowledgment. That was his first test. "I'm simply stating that I am willing to put an end to our war because I care about Taehyung, and wouldn't want him to get hurt by us since we are the people he cherishes the most. I don't want to disappoint him. And I'm sure you would be willing to do so too, for the sake of Taehyung," 2nd test passed.

"And just why would I believe you, Jeon?" Jaehyun asks tilting his head almost as if he didn't believe Jungkook, which he doesn't. This was his third test. "Do you think if you say some big words that mean nothing to me I will turn a blind eye to your relationship?"

"I don't want you to believe me, or turn a blind eye to this situation. I want you to think about Taehyung, and what he wants. You may be his hyung but do not forget this is his life that you are deciding. I would like you to choose carefully. I'm sure you can have thousands of suitors and suitresses, but who could guarantee to love Taehyung?" Jungkook asking such a scandalizing question scared Taehyung. He wasn't sure how his brother would take it. "No one comes with that guarantee, you could hand him to someone rich, healthy, good-looking but will they love him? Or will Taehyung love them? Even if we are a part of the mafia Jaehyun, taking someone away from who they love? That is much crueller than murder, torture in the form of death itself."

"You're good with words Jeon, I'll give you that. But, why would I trust someone who has the title of the youngest mafia king rumoured to have at least killed more than hundreds in his 27 years of life? I understand you two share love but what about your engagement it's due in a month. How do you expect me to believe that Taehyung won't be a Goddamn mistress!?" Jaehyun shouted the last part his tone angrier as he talked. This was his last and final test for Jungkook.

Jungkook's hand becomes a fist but Taehyung soothes him by rubbing circles on his hand.

"I'm a son of a mistress, don't you forget it Jaehyun, I would never let Taehyung live a life like that," Jungkook stated loudly and firmly.

"Oh yeah?"

"How are you going convince your step-brother?" Jaehyun asked testing him to the very end.

"I'm sure my brother cares about my consent and happiness more than his business in the underworld," Jungkook says narrowing his eyes. Jaehyung's hard face finally falters smiling. He leans back spreading his legs comfortably.

"Fine, only if you can cancel the engagement within 20 minutes, I'm giving you 1200 seconds Jungkook." That was the first time Jaehyun had used his name in their conversation. Jungkook also smiled.

"You can count on it hyung,"

Jaehyun looks surprised.

"Who said you can call me that?" Jaehyun says sounding annoyed but the smile on his face is nothing but playful.

"No one just felt like it," Jungkook smiled before nodding.

"Would you like to come with me Taehyung-ah?" Jungkook asks his voice coming out softer than when he was talking to Jaehyun. Taehyung looked between him and his brother.

"Actually, I thought you should stay over at our house," Taehyung admitted sheepishly.

"This is going to be interesting," Rein smiled elbowing Jaehyun who pretended he was annoyed.

"You might want to send your army back then," Jaehyun said rolling his eyes as Jungkook smiled.
