MiaWould it be too dramatic to hire a driver? Probably.
I know I could never actually joke about that around Nate because he would actually make it happen. I was just taking my time driving to the game even though I was delayed at work and couldn't leave early. But the guy behind me was clearly distracted and didn't notice me stop at a red light and just hammered right into me. Thank God the cars that had a green light stopped before hitting me. He only really damaged the back of the car but a bunch of things flew around in the car and got me in the face causing some cuts. And now I can say I've experienced whiplash. It is not eventful at all.
My mom just finished getting me my chicken noodle soup as dad and I watch the interviews going on after the game. Good thing Nate didn't argue when I insisted he went back to the game, we are lucky the arena and hospital are close. I should have known as soon as they told him he would be by my side. I want to say I was surprised but I wasn't really.
"Here you go baby," my mom says passing me a tray filled with soup and a cup of tea. I'm cuddled up beside my dad just as they pull Nate in for an interview. He usually doesn't like doing them but he knows it comes with the job.
"We missed you in the whole second period there Reese? What happened out there? Any injuries?" They ask so many damn questions in one sentence.
"No, I'm healthy and ready for the next game, just had to deal with a family emergency," he says smoothly, not giving away too much information.
"It's your first time competing to be in the NHL semi-finals, what does that feel like?" They ask him to bring up the fact that this season's team has made it so far.
"It's great. We have a great group of guys here and we are prepared for what's to come. Sorry but I gotta head out, thanks for the questions," my man is crazy. He was probably trying to hide how pissed he was that he was delayed getting home to me. Even though I'm fine and he saw the nurse and doctor give me the all clear.
"I've never seen a man more smitten with their girl," my mom says, making my dad and I laugh out loud.
"You should have seen the distress on his face when he ran in that hospital, there was no stopping him from seeing you," my dad tells me as he wraps his arm around me.
"I'm so lucky to have him," I tell both of them cradling my tea in my hands. Theo lays on the ground in front of me doing his thing and protecting me. As soon as we walked into the house he was all over me rubbing my leg, he knew something was wrong as he always does.
Mom and dad sit with me as we wait for Nate to get home from the arena. When the door opens Theo is on high alert until he sees Nate walk into the family room coming directly to me and kneeling in front of me.
I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss his cheek. "You did great, thank you for going back, you needed to be there," I tell him as he wraps his arms around me but holds me gently. I know he is probably worried about hurting me but he won't.
"How are you feeling? What can I do?" he says, scanning my face again to see if I'm in pain.
"Nothing baby, I'm just tired so I want to head to bed," I tell him as I go to set my tea down.
"Well we know when we are not wanted anymore," Ugh. Why are moms so dramatic?
"Thank you guys, come on baby let's walk them out and head up," Nate grabs my hands and leads me to the front door as we wave my parents off.
"You scared me, I was so fucking worried when I didn't see you up in the box," Nate says, wrapping his arms around me again. "Let's go up, you want me to run you a bath?" he asks as he lifts me so easily and carries me up the stairs. I just nod and cuddle into him. He sets me down on the bed kissing me before he disappears into the washroom to run a bath.
