Sometimes I wonder why are punishments for being late for school worse than not going to school all day. Suspensions and going to the principal's office for being late a couple of minutes?

A load of bullshit if you ask me.

I got out of the driver's seat of my car with the huge black backpack over my right shoulder and storm through the front door of the school. The school assembly I was supposed to go to this morning was already over. The main hall of the school was deserted, empty. The only person I could see from where I was standing was the school's janitor, cleaning something in the far left corner.

Digging through my backpack for the paper I have my classes written on, I find that the first class, the one I'm already good half an hour late for, is math. The good thing is that the teacher is old and pretty much deaf. With the knowledge of that, I get to the door of the classroom and knock.

I enter the classroom looking down to the floor. The teacher who was probably talking about something is now looking directly at me, glaring, for interrupting his class.

"Miss, care to tell us why are you late?", he seethes.

"My alarm didn't wake me up, sorry.", I explain groggily and head over to my table, not paying attention to who is sitting in my place. Looking up, I find the guy from the race, Luke, sitting on my chair.

"Move to the other seat, you're sitting in mine.", I tell, or more so order, not even showing an amount of surprise over him being in the same school as me. I've either lost my mind or it's just way too early for my brain to function.

"Well, hello to you too grumpy.", says Luke while moving to the other chair. He twirls the ends of his long hair and stares up at me. I sit down and throw my backpack to the floor, slumping down and putting my head in between my hands, trying to fight sleep.

"God, why is waking up early so fucking hard.", I complain which only causes Luke to chuckle. I avert my gaze from my knees to him, only to find him staring at me, smiling. "Dude, how do you have so much energy this early in the morning. I swear, if you don't stop smiling I will slap you."

"Violent much.", he teases which only caused a glare from me to be sent his way. He lifts his hands in mock surrender and I let out a little laugh, immediately wiping the smile off my face when his face lights up.

"Ha, I made you laugh.", he almost screams, which brought a lot of attention to us. Students look our way as if we have lost our minds being this hyper in math class. Thankfully, the half-deaf teacher either didn't hear or just didn't pay attention to us.

"I hate you.", I say while trying to hide from everyone still staring at us. Attention is usually a good thing, but right now I am really not enjoying it.

"Why? I'm lovely.", he remarked which only earned him an eye roll from my side.

In one moment, he was looking to the board, probably listening to the teacher explaining trigonometry, and in the other, he was all up in my face, for the second time since I arrived at school.

"What do you want Luke?", I mumble quite annoyed.

"The guy who looks even grumpier than you did when you came in has been looking at us for the last five minutes.", he says and with the knowledge, I look to my right. Dominico is looking at the two of us with a frown and even from here, I can sense his irritation.

"Can you two shut up for a bit, some of us are trying to listen to the class?", he comments while looking directly at me. I stare back at him and raise an eyebrow. As if that made him even more irritated, he adds "If you really want to flirt, please don't do it in class.", which earned him a scoff from both me and Luke.

"Yeah babe, let's get out of here. Certain people don't want our love to bloom.", said Luke and before I even had the chance to respond, or smack him, he already got his bag on one shoulder and my backpack on the other. He took my hand and led us out of the classroom, all without the teacher noticing.

We got out of the classroom and he started laughing, still not letting my hand go. I waited for a couple of seconds until he stopped laughing like a maniac, before walking away from the door of the classroom.

"The look on his face was everything!", Luke tries to say between another fit of laughter. "On a scale from one to ten, how much do you want to kill me right now?"

"Hovering somewhere in the high thirties right now.", I answer his question and it only makes him laugh even more.

"You have to admit, it was really funny."

"No, it wasn't."

I go over to the vending machine at the end of the hallway without looking back to see if Luke is coming with me, but I just know that the annoying German is right behind me. With a sigh, I put a 10 dollar bill and type out the numbers for a bottle of water and a mars bar, and put the change back in my pocket. Turning around, I'm met with the said annoying guy looking at a piece of paper.

"I have an idea.", he announces, his eyes lighting up, and I just know that it won't be a good idea. "I swear it's a good one this time.", he tries to reason, but the look on my face still remains passive.

"So we have lunch at the same time, save me a seat, we need to hang out. And, apart from Wade, you are literally the only person here that I know, so you're stuck with me whatever you do.", he presents his amazing idea.

The loud bell rings through the hallway of the still silent school, and students get out of all the classrooms. The commotion made me realize that Luke was gone, he fleed while I wasn't paying attention.

Now, going to my next class I realize that I'll be spending my lunchtime with him, which only makes me groan. But even though I gave him the impression of being mad, I spend the next three classes thinking about the stupid German boy and how much fun I had with him in the less than an hour we have been together.

And now, three classes later, lunch break is finally there. Everyone is getting out of their classrooms and I try to storm to the cafeteria before everyone arrives so I can get some food.

You know the feeling where as soon as you get into a room, you feel eyes on you and shivers come up your spine, well that's what I'm feeling like when strolling through the double doors of the cafeteria.

I don't get to dwell on who was watching me, because a happy-looking Luke puts his arm on my shoulder and heads us to the table where Sophie and Wade are already sitting with 4 plates of food. Thankfully, there is chicken on there so I just sit down and start eating without even saying hello to everyone.

"Hello to you too.", jokes Wade, which only caused me to glare in his direction.

"Isn't it the new couple we have here, huh?", says a voice from behind me and sits next to me, throwing his arm around my shoulder. Dante has a huge genuine smile on his face while looking at me, but his little asshole of a friend is just smirking at Luke and me, most probably thinking about saying something stupid.

"Yeah, we are so sorry you had to find out from someone else and not directly from us.", explains Luke with a serious face, and puts his hand on my thigh, which didn't go unnoticed by anyone on the table.

"Woah, woah, woah, Rose what the fuck.", hinted Wade with his mouth dropped to the floor. Sophie was just looking between Luke and I. Dante was smirking at me, while Dominico was just staring at his food, not paying attention to us..

"He's kidding.", I explained and shot a look in Luke's direction, making his shoulders deflate and he gave out a nod.

"Yeah, had to find a way to make her not so dark this morning, and to make Nico shut up.", Luke joked and as if he heard his name, Dominico lifted his head up and looked at us.

"I wouldn't have even talked if it weren't the two of you giggling like freshman girls.", the grumpy one rolled his eyes which made Dante laugh a bit.

"So I was wondering, have you ever been to a paintball place?", Dante asked all of us and we all shook our heads while his smile grew.

"Well then, the six of us will be going paintballing on Saturday."
