{LAAN: I'm paying homage to King Mars's Haunted Arcade. It's a great beat and it keeps me moving! And it fits for Fazbear's Fright. Give it a listen.}
We decided to go straight to Fazbear's Fright and watch the night sky afterwords. Jamie hid herself inside of my jacket's pocket while we waited in line with parents, kids, and a few teenagers. The whole place had this spooky atmosphere and we were pretty excited. My stomach got a twisted feeling. We came in as a small group and met a young man dressed like a security guard. He had a little microphone in his ear so we could all hear his spooky voice.
"Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Fright," he said. "This new attraction has the essence of what had made many children happy many years ago. But now it belongs to him." A kid squeaked. "He is our all new animatronic and it's your job to keep moving and pray he doesn't catch you. We assure you that nothing will happen to you and we must ask you not to touch our new animatronic; he's still a bit nervous." He gave us a creepy grin but in the shadows two big, sickly yellow hands emerged and grabbed the man. He disappeared with a scream faster than we could think. We didn't know what to do. Then a light in an empty Chica the Chicken head pointed us toward a hallway. We followed the dark hall while empty heads with lights pointed the way. There was a sort of buzz, clicks, and rumbles above us.
"You can come out, Jamie," I whispered. "People will think it's a trick of the light." Jamie slipped out of my pocket and grew to a medium size, floating close next to me. No one said anything. Ahead, there was a strobe light blinking at a big window. There was an office like mine with a man dressed as a night guard looking at a slide-out camera. Someone dressed like Freddy entered the room and jump-scared the guard. The Freddy turned around and banged on the window, screaming at us. We all scrambled to the end of the hall but the top of the vent crashed down and a big animatronic landed on the floor in front of us, letting out a horrible scream. We screamed in fear and a light came on in another hall. When we were in the hall, the screaming stopped but we heard rumbling above us.
Down the hall, past the little head-lights, there were remnants of another Fazbear's that I have never seen before. There were children's old drawings all over the walls and there was some whirring ahead of it. A broken-down version of Foxy with a white and pink color palette jumped out at us from the floor, opening its mouth and screaming. Many people jumped at the thing. It recoiled back into the darkness. Ahead of us there was the sound of a heavy child's laughter. As we progressed, the source was revealed. There were whirs of a twitching metal boy with a striped shirt and propeller beanie. In one hand he was holding a worn out sign that said "Balloons" and in the other hand he held a limp string with a broken balloon on the end. His head slowly turned all the way around and said,
"Hi!" People squeaked and my blood ran cold. The levels of anticipation were rising. We rounded another corner and came face to face with a puppet handing from the ceiling with a thin black body, white stripes and buttons, and it has a sort of clown-like mask with a smile plastered on it. His arm raised and pointed to a dark hall that was bathed in the red light of the "Exit" sign. We looked at it but then we turned to the rattling of another vent. All the lights turned on and we finally got a good view of the animatronic jumping from the vent onto the floor.
This thing was huge. It looked like a Golden Bonnie from his ears. He was a sick yellow in color, worn down by age, pieces torn off with wires hanging out of the hole and the missing end of his ear, the metal of his endoskeleton showing more than Foxy's, and worst of all, there was something hanging down from his chest and wrapping around the metal; entrails. Unidentifiable organs and muscles hung from an open cavity in his chest and fleshy muscles clung and stretched to his legs and his feet. He had big teeth with red stains on them, fixed in a wide, wild smile. He raised his arms and opened his mouth, letting out a scream that scared the living soul away from the children. They screamed and ran from their mothers down the hall toward the exit. The mothers ran after the children and the animatronic turned its big empty eyes toward us. He screamed again and we started to run toward the exit too. I heard clunks of metal feet running after us and there was a bang as the door closed behind us. We were outside in front of the same guard that was taken at the start.
"Thank you for coming to Freddy Fazbear's Fright. We hope you've enjoyed your time and please come again." He opened another door and we filed out back to the parking lot. I was laughing at the image of what my face probably looked like. Jamie was laughing too.
"That was so fun!" I said happily. "They really went all out on this, didn't they?"
"Oh yeah," Jamie said with a laugh.
"And that new animatronic was so cool! If that was a person in there, he is a great actor!" Jamie paused. "What?"
"I think there was someone in there."
"How? Did you see those guts?" Jamie looked back at the exit door.
"I did see it but I still think there was someone in there. Another child maybe..."
"It couldn't be a kid. He was way too big." She started floating back to the door. "Hey, wait for me." She passed through the door and I opened it. Jamie was floating behind the big animatronic. He was facing away from us. His head was slightly tilted as if listening for something. But he looked sad. The kind of sad you get when you've lost something. I carefully closed the door but the click made him turn around.
