"Can you meet there in a few?"
"Not right now. Macey hasn't left yet."
"Will you ever tell her about me?"
"I can't. She'll think I'm crazy."
"You do crazy things all the time."
"That's still different than this, Jamie."
"Mike..."
"Jamie." She giggled and I managed a smile.
"Fine. I'll meet you there. You leave as soon as you can." I hung up the phone and listened by the bathroom. Macey was taking a really long shower before work today. I didn't like it. I really wanted to see Jamie.
Jamie and I had met while I was in Wisconsin trying to free Golden Freddy. She was a waitress at a Freddy Fazbear's, and though our "quality time" was short, I still felt a little connection with her and I. She was really sweet and made me feel welcome at the place. Sadly she was brutally murdered by the manager of the place. I had just given her my number. She died right there in my arms. Somehow her spirit remained and she and I were able to talk to each other with my cell phone.
She told me that she was still in the Meat Locker in Wisconsin. I had recently drove back there, leaving Macey a note that said "Left something in Wisconsin", and I led Jamie out of there. We have been meeting at the nearby park on a lonely little hill where you can see the stars and moon so well at night. The trees hide us but the glow of the stars doesn't compare to her own spiritual glow.
Finally I heard the shower shut off. I ran from the hall and jumped on the couch. Macey soon came out dressed in her work clothes. She stopped when she saw me relaxing on the sofa. I glanced up at her.
"You gonna go to the park today?" she asked.
"Uh-huh," I said slowly and casually.
"You've been getting out more often."
"Yeah. I just need time away from things. It feels nice." Macey smiled at me.
"Well as long as you've happy." She grabbed her keys and her purse. "I'll see you tonight." I gave her a wave good-bye and waited for the sound of her car to fade away. I grabbed my cell phone and nearly fell over the coffee table from jumping up so fast. I ran out the door, not stopping until I got to the park. The wind blew so fast in my face, whipping my hair back. I felt really alive. I was going to see Jamie again; yes, Yes, YES!
I stopped at the foot of the hill and walked up the rest of the way. I was panting hard but I didn't care. I walked past the trees and came up to the little clearing. There she was; looking up at the clear, pink sky. She was white and all aglow, her soulless eyes seemed full of life as she watched the clouds pass, and her hair and ghost-tail floated so fluidly like they were being blown by soft wind. Emotions tugged at my heart valves.
"Hey, Jamie," I called to her. She turned and smiled.
"Hi," she replied. We sat down together on the grass and watched the clouds roll by. We didn't talk much but we didn't need to. We liked wasting our lives by watching clouds fly with the time.
"Guess what I saw on a newspaper," she said suddenly. I looked over at her. I thought about what she could've seen. I haven't read a newspaper in weeks.
"What did you see?" I asked, thinking it would be something cute or funny.
"There's a new Freddy Fazbear's opening today!" I sat straight up in shock. What? A new Fazbear's? Why? Who would be stupid enough to start that nightmare again? "Are you okay, Mike?"
"I'm just..." I trailed off for a second. "Just a little surprised that they're making a new one." Jamie smiled.
"No I get it," she said sweetly. "You've worried about this Freddy's being like that last ones." I nodded with a weak smile.
"But you don't need to worry. I've read about it and it's not a pizza place."
"It's not?"
"Nope! It's called 'Fazbear's Fright'. It's like a haunted house. There's only one animatronic and its picture is so cool. It's all ripped up and sick and--"
"Wait, why are you telling me this?" She was getting pretty excited about this Fazbear's Fright. I hated to ruin it because her eyes always fill with such amazement and interest when she's excited. That drained from her eyes when I spoke.
"Oh. Well, I was thinking that since we've had experiences with Freddy's," she started, putting exaggeration on "experiences". "And since it's almost Halloween, I thought it would be fun if you and I went to it. You know, for, like, 'shitz-n-gigglez'."
"Like," I started, pausing. Like a date? Or just two pals hanging out?" She looked down a bit with a smile. If she still had blood, she would be blushing.
"Just like a hangout," she said. My face fell.
"Oh."
"But we can make it like a playful date," she said when she saw the disappointment in my eyes. But they lit up when she said that.
"We can?"
"Sure." We can do a little something together before and then we can go have our fun."
"Yeah, that's a good plan."
"I'm glad you think so." And it was settled; we were going to meet here tomorrow before we go to Fazbear's Fright. We weren't sure what we would do before-hand. Perhaps we would go straight there. We stayed out on the hill for a little while longer, talking about nothing and how fun it is to do nothing. I had reached out to touch her hand but my hand only touched grass. I always forgot that I couldn't touch her. My feeling were so strong for her. It made me so sad to remember that we could never truly be together. I wondered if she felt the same way about me...
