His eyes were wide, ears ridged. I backed up but he seemed to be staring right at Jamie. She looked as confused as I was but the animatronic seemed to know who she was. He raised his hand toward her but she backed up a little bit. He put his hand down. Then, with both hands, he starts pulling both his jaws open, revealing something that made my stomach flip.

Inside the robot's head was a red, rotting head with crossbeams and wires jammed into and through his mouth and skull. His head tilted down a bit, showing his round, dead eye that was staring right at her. His eye blinked. Jamie's jaw dropped and she floated toward him, a hand raised. He put his jaws back into place and looked down, almost like he was ashamed. But then his head turned, ears up. He quickly bent down, took out the vent door and crawled away to the start. I heard their screams. He could sure move fast for his size. Jamie was frozen.

"Jamie? Are you okay?" I asked quietly. She was silent for a long time.

"Come on," she said sadly. "They'll catch us here." She floated out of the place, passing through the door. When I opened the door, she was gone. I walked home alone with my thoughts. Did I do something wrong? Why did she react the way she did when she saw the animatronic's face? Was this even a good idea? I barely knew anymore. When I came home, Macey kept asking me where I was, where I've been, but I didn't answer. I just went to my room, flopping on my bed, and feeling miserable. A nice little date with a cute girl and then she just ditched me. I flipped open my cell phone and called her number. It rang, and rang, and rang, and rang... She didn't answer.

It was a week since I've heard from Jamie. I was beginning to worry about things. Like, did I do something wrong? Was it a mistake to agree to Fazbear's Fright? What was she doing? What was I doing? I hadn't left the house since that night. I've been trying to call Jamie the whole time. Why was I just sitting here being sad? Why was I worrying? But yet, I still called Jamie for the 5th time this morning. I waited and waited while it rang and rang.

"Hi, Mike," she answered. I instantly sat up. She sounded winded and tired, like she had been crying.

"Jamie!" I said. "Where have you been? Where are you now? Are you okay? What happened?"

"Mike, Mike, Mike, slow down. I don't want to answer these questions. I'm having a rough time."

        "What's wrong?"

"It's not something I can talk about over the phone. You need to hear it in person. I'm at our hill." She hung up and I ran. I climbed the hill and she was sitting there. Her head was down with tears running down her face. They disappeared before they hit the grass. She looked up at me as I stood next to her. At that moment, I felt like I really needed to tell her how I felt about her. Maybe it would sway something that was on her mind.

"Jamie," I said. "I really need to tell you this. When we first talked I--"

"Mike, wait!" she said in shock. "You need to hear what I have to say first." I was a little surprised at how wide her eyes got.

"Okay, what is it?" I asked.

"Mike, you're really sweet and I know I should have told you this earlier... But when we went to Fazbear's Fright, I saw someone I knew inside that animatronic."

        "You did? Who?"

"Lemmie start at the beginning. Years ago, before I worked at Fazbear's, I had a boyfriend. His name was, or... is, Fritz. He worked at a Freddy Fazbear's and I met him when I was babysitting. He was a really sweet person, even though he wasn't right in the head."

"What do you mean?" She hesitated.

"He was the one who killed those 5 children."

        "He what?!"

"Just hear me out okay?!" Her tears fell a bit faster. "Outside of all his flaws, I found a great person like you. He was sweet and said he'd do anything for me if I asked. But that day when he killed those kids, he called me from his phone and he sounded so scared. He was saying that he did something horrible and that they were coming back to haunt him. He had this instant regret and he was so afraid. Then he told me that he found a hiding place and he said that he loved me and we'll see each other soon." She stopped to sob a bit. "I never saw him again. I worked at a Fazbear's almost out of respect and with the hopes that maybe I'd see him again...

"But when that animatronic revealed his face and the way he acted, I knew it was him. He looked so scared and it hurt me to see him trapped like that. The last few nights I went back to see him and to try to comfort him. He was so miserable and he was constantly trying to rip his head off... I'm sorry. I should have told you but I couldn't leave him there. I'm going back tomorrow."

        "Tomorrow?" I asked.

"Mike, please understand," she pleaded. "If I were trapped in a suit, would you leave me?"

"No," I said with surprise. "Of course not."

        "Exactly what I'm doing here."

"But," I said, looking down. "I thought..."

"Mike, I know how you feel about me but I can't say the same about you. And besides, I'm dead. We can't be together and you know it. You should've known this."

"I still thought we could've been together."

"I'm so sorry, Mike... But I promise that we'll still be friends. I'll call you often." She talked as though everything was alright. But I kept my head down. She looked at me for a while.

        "Mike?"

        "Yes?"

"If I ever need you, will you help me?"

"Of course I will. Whatever you need."

"Thank you." And then it was over. I left. I didn't want to stay and have her see me. My heart felt like it was crushed by a hammer. And she still talked to me like everything was fine. But I still knew that if she needed anything that I would be there. No matter what.

The next week, when I thought that I would probably see a movie and have time to myself without worry, my phone rang almost frantically.

"Hello? Jamie?" There were some noises in the background before she spoke.

        "Mike? Oh, you picked up."

        "Are you okay Jamie?"

"I need your help. Come to Fazbear's Fright. Please."
