Freedom

I was behind the building at the exit, waiting for her. What could she possibly want me to do here? I realized it as soon as I asked myself that. Jamie passed through the exit door and it opened, the animatronic— what'shisname?— Fritz holding the door open. He was slightly peeking out, occasionally looking around nervously. Jamie was talking to him in a soft voice. His eyes shifted to me and Jamie's head turned.

"Oh, Mike!" she called. I walked over to her and she met me halfway. "Thanks so much for coming." Fritz was looking at us anxiously. "I need your help."

"No," I said bluntly. Jamie stopped and looked at me.

        "What?"

"I said no. I'm not going to free your boyfriend." Fritz's ears perked up in surprise and Jamie looked the same way.

        "But he—"

"No, Jamie. The week after you break my heart and you expect me to free that so you can be with him and leave me in the dust," I growled angrily, pointing at Fritz. Jamie was starting to cry.

"Mike, you know we can't be together and my heart is set on someone else! And you said you would help me no matter what! Fritz needs help. He needs someone on the outside to help him out and I can't touch him!" Her voice broke and she put her hands over her eyes as she cried. Fritz flinched, looked around, and came out of the building, coming over to Jamie to try to put his hand on her shoulder. He couldn't touch her. I felt like a jerk now. Why was I so set on a girl who could never be with me?

"Jamie," I said. She looked up at me. "I'm sorry..." We locked eyes. "I shouldn't just keep you two away because of my feelings... They don't matter."

"Your feelings do matter. Your feelings for me caused you to help me with this. You just care," she said, reaching out to me. I gave a weak smile but I walked past her and stood in front of Fritz. I ignored the fact that I was letting the love of my life go so she can be with someone else. I was setting another free; all from the greater good. Fritz made a nervous noise and took a step back.

"Fritz," I said. "You're going to have to sit. You're too tall." Fritz stood there for a minute. He understood and smiled, nodding. He carefully sat down on the asphalt. I stepped closer and looked at his head. It didn't look like it could be lifted or pulled off.

"Do you know how to get the head off?" I asked Fritz. He reached over to his back, trying to grab something. I came around behind him and looked at a little thing sticking out from his back. It looked like a lever or a knob. I couldn't tell but I wrapped my fingers around it and turned it to the right. Fritz tensed up and made a moan. Wrong way. I apologized and turned it the other way. His shoulders sagged and the knob clicked. I pulled at it and everything seemed to loosen. That must be it. I came back around and carefully lifted his head up and away from his mouth and through his head. When the head was off, Fritz went limp.

Then there was a brilliant flash of light that shot from the suit and up to the sky. It burst and bent down like a firework. Jamie and I stared up in awe as it came back together into shape. Is that what freedom felt like? Tasting the outside world, shooting up at the sky like nothing can stop you, then finally bursting with the feeling of happiness? If that was the case, it was beautiful. The light came down to ground level, facing away from us, and took a human-ghost shape. It paused for a moment, looking at its hands.

"Fritz?" Jamie asked, floating near him. Fritz turned around to face us. He looked about my age with a seemingly purple glow around him. His hair was up in a small ponytail and he had a hat that said "Security" on it. He looked at Jamie like wasn't sure if she was real.

"JJ?" he asked. Jamie put on a wide smile and Fritz returned it. "It is you!" They came into an embrace, crying on each other's shoulders. Fritz held her face and kissed it everywhere. I felt my heart dropping but I also felt it rising with a good feeling that I did the right thing. The two ghosts held the other's shoulders and just looked at each other. They were truly meant for one another. Jamie broke away from Fritz and came over to me.

"Thank you so much, Mike," she said as she hugged me. Though she was a ghost, I could still feel the warmth as if she were still there. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," I said softly. I hovered my arms around her. Fritz was smiling behind us.

"Mike, was it?" he asked when we pulled away. I nodded as he came over. "Thank you for helping me out of that trap."

"What are we gonna do about the suit though?" I asked.

"That's not my problem any more and that's also not the point. I'm just so grateful to be back with Jamie again."

"You two are made for each other. Besides, he looked way better than me." They laughed and I smiled. Fritz took Jamie's hand and Jamie put her head under his. I looked a little sad.

"Oh, Mike. I know that was hard, especially knowing what Fritz has done," she said to me. "But we'll see each other again. I promise. I don't think I'll ever forget you."

"I won't forget you either." I saw Fritz look away from me, looking very ashamed of himself. "Don't worry about the past, Fritz." He turned his eyes toward me. "I freed those kids so maybe you can tell them you're sorry if you find them." Fritz looked up at me with a smile.

"That's not a bad idea," he said. "Thanks.

"No problem." Then the two looked at each other. Jamie looked up at the night sky and tugged on Fritz's arm. They floated away, disappearing into the night. I don't know where they went but I knew I'd see them both again. And maybe they'll find 5 wandering spirits, free from the curse of Freddy Fazbear's as well.

{LAAN: Wow, lookie, I made a new story just off the top of my head... Now I KNOOOW there are time errors and it's probably so cheesy that you could make nachos out of it. Time issues and realism issues are my biggest weakness so if I'm going to fuck up like this, I know I have to make the rest awesome. So I hope you like this Cole ^w^ I'm a huge fan so thanks for noticing. I'm also paying homage to It's Time to Die. Like Haunted Arcade, this awesome song kept me moving through the whole process :) Thanks for reading, more stuff to come.}
