Thalia now resides in a small cottage outside of town. She was cleaning the house and getting ready for Frollo's visit. Frollo had decided Thalia would stay here, but only if she follows a few rules: she must never answer the door to anybody but him, she can never leave the cottage without him, and absolutely must never speak with any gypsy. It was forbidden.
Thalia was indebted to her rescuer so she obediently follows his rules. Frollo visits Thalia every other day and sometimes brings her sweets or dresses. In Thalia's naive eyes, Frollo was like a father figure and playfully acted like his daughter. She was totally unaware of the way he stares at her young body yet he was able to control himself. Patience, Frollo, the minister thought to himself, She's much too pure.
It has been months now since then and still, her memories have yet returned, so Thalia could only depend on Frollo. She trusts him.
Thalia tidies up her cottage when she hears Frollo's horse outside. She goes to her window to make sure it wasn't anybody else and was relieved it was Frollo. The young maiden goes to open her door and greets her rescuer.
"Master Frollo! Good morning!" greeted Thalia as she rushes to him and tackles him into a hug.
"Oof!! Thalia, you must control yourself!" scolded Frollo, who almost lost his balance had it not been for his horse behind him.
Thalia nuzzles his chest and pouts. "I'm sorry, but you haven't visited me for over a week now! I was worried something happened to you!"
Frollo chuckles amusingly and strokes her long hair. "Forgive me, child. I've been busy. Gypsy cretins roam the city like roaches, and I must exterminate them."
"But why, master?" asked Thalia as she lifts her head up curiously. "Why are gypsies bad?"
Frollo, in that dark voice, explains, "Gypsies are dangerous creatures, Thalia. They'll rob you blind and swipe whatever you hold dear from you. They'll even try to seduce you into joining their devilish caravan and strip you of your innocence! That is why I have ordered you to stay here, where no one will harm you. It's for your own good, my dear Thalia."
"But it's lonely here, master. I want to live in the city, like you," said Thalia. "I can take care of myself!"
Frollo chuckles and pats Thalia's head. He replies, "I doubt that, child. There are many predators out there who will not hesitate to take you. No, I'd rather you stay here, where it's safe."
Thalia pouts like a child before letting go of him and they both went inside the cottage together. The old minister held a basket under his arm before taking it off and placing it on the table. He took a seat while Thalia pours him a cup of tea.
"How are you fairing, Thalia? I trust you have everything you need," asked Frollo.
Thalia replies, "Yes, I am doing well, thank you. I don't need anything, master, but if I do I will let you know."
"Good, good," said Frollo. "You haven't let anyone else in your home, have you?"
Thalia replies, "No, master. None besides you."
"Splendid."
Frollo took a sip from his tea while Thalia stares at him. Despite what she said, she wishes she could ask him to let her go into town, but after what he said earlier she knew he would refuse. Thalia plays with her fingers and glances at her teacup quietly. Frollo raises a brow at the young girl and placed his teacup down.
He asks, "What are you thinking about, child?"
Thalia looks up at the minister and sheepishly answered, "I-I wish I could go and live with you in the city, master. You've treated me so kindly here, and I want to repair you back somehow for helping me."
