(WARNING: Bloody Chapter Ahead! )
The hideous thing in front of me is something not even I could conjure in my imagination. It's got a long bright green tail sprouting from the deep purple body, encased in scales. There are nasty patches of fur covering him everywhere. His eyes shine yellow and horns are poking out from the skin on top of his head.
Steaming blue spit drips from those open jaws. Rotting sharp teeth run all along his jaws.
My heart dropped all over again. These tests coming my way are not survivable.
"Better go back the way ya came girl." The monster spat in my direction, raising his clawed hands in the air for a more dramatic effect and it's giving me the chills.
"No way." I almost stuttered while trying to get farther away. I have to be very careful not to trip over my feet now. That is not what I need.
"Last warnin child!" He roared and his breath wafted all the way to my sensitive nose.
The sour stench makes my stomach twirl endlessly. The cold is causing my eyes to itch and tear up. With these conditions, there is no way I can survive this thing.
"The Goblin King brought me here for this very purpose. Once I kill you like the last one, he shall take me back to my frozen swamp down in the badlands."
Something other than the chill in the air made my lungs stop moving for a split second. I haven't been the only girl to cross paths with this monster, but why?
"I'm sure that is a great plan for you but I've got bigger fish to fry." And of course, I can't come up with better smack talk. What bigger fish are there?
His proud face morphed into a deadly one. The face a predatory cat would have when on the hunt for prey. Waiting for the right moment to strike.
The beast moved closer, tail dragging behind him, producing a scraping noise.
"Less talk, more killing!" He tells me.
The creature who looks after this pathway makes his first move at last and totally tried to tackle me with his lumpy arms. I somehow find the strength to jump out of the way in time before he could even touch a finger on me.
He tries again but this time used his tail to swipe at me. I'm not fast enough to move. The heavy tail hits me square in the chest and I go flying down the path. We have switched places.
I landed right where he first stood. It takes me a moment to realize that I'm laying in a puddle of slime that came from his sickly body. The urge to gag is certainly becoming uncontrollable.
"You are no match for me." I find it somewhat funny how he seems to be so full of himself. Well yeah, he killed someone before me but I'm not going to be the next. This will be a disappointment indeed.
