The journey to the gates did not take a long time. As we arrive there is a sleeping goblin guarding the gates. It's hard not to laugh at the funny sight of his swaying.
"We don't have much time," Sarah told all of us before inspecting how to open the gate doors.
"Ambrosius, forward!" Didymus ordered his dog companion but all the poor guy did was whine and go backward.
Then out of nowhere, I hear a new voice up above. My eyes scan the tops of the gates and see Hoggle all the way to our left. There he is watching us make a fool out of ourselves. Like we didn't already know that marching through the front is a horrible idea.
"Open the door!" My attention then goes to the fancy-dressed dog. He marched right up to the snoozing guard. There is no fear in his eyes. All I see is a raging challenge being offered to his sleeping opponent.
"Shh!" Sarah tried to pull him back but her touch was shaken away.
The little guy then starts to bang his sword onto the guard's helmet. Creating a loud clanging sound that rings off into the distance.
"Oh stop that." I gripped his small arm and pulled back. This time he complied with my actions. Yet he still continues to shout. Demanding for the doors to open up.
"Open up! Open up right now!" His sword waves in the air like a flag flapping along the winds.
"You'll wake the guard if you don't shush." Sarah again tries to calm him down but nothing seems to work.
"I shall fight you all to the death!" Now I know for certain that this creature has never been in a real fight his entire life. I myself have fought girls and boys who've teased me for not having a real family to go home to. Those were sad times back then.
"Please Sir Didymus, for my sake just hush!" My friend whisper shouted to him.
"But of course. For you, anything." His beady eyes found mine and hers. I didn't realize how silent this place is.
"I am no coward?" He asked Sarah, most likely expecting a negative answer. I feel for him. I too have always received unwanted answers.
"No." Me and her both say together. Maybe that will give him the courage we all need.
"Then I shall fight anyone, anywhere, anyplace, anytime!" This time his shout is merely a whisper. For that I am grateful. Some peace and quiet might do us all good.
Ludo makes his way over to the doors. With a great huff, the large red beast pushed the gates open. An empty entranceway stands before us.
"Now quietly." Sarah ushered us all inside. I am the last to walk inside the gates.
