It was a rather odd sight. Perplexing even.

There, in the dull and steady rain, Taehyun watched as the girl with no umbrella or raincoat continued to jump around, an innocent smile on her face as she seemed to enjoy the rain dropping on her shoulders and the puddles splashing around her feet.

She was always there. Everytime the rain fell, she was always in that same area in the park where the ground is flat and there are no shelters nearby except for the trees.

Occasionally, there would be puddles forming in the cement, and she would visibly enjoy jumping from one to the other, like a child in kindergarten wearing her boots outside for the first time.

Taehyun wondered how she never got sick. She didn't even seem to mind her wet clothes at all or how cold it could have been getting for her in that situation. Apart from that, he wondered how she never missed a day when the rain would fall.

He always saw her. Every rainy afternoon on the way home, he would pass by the park and he would always see her, in her wet uniform, hair tied up in a ponytail, and that gold-colored necklace with a moon-shaped pendant bouncing around her neck.

The sight was odd. She was odd. And it left him curious all the time.

Today was a bit different, though.

This time, she looked towards him. And the boy's eyes widen when his eyes meet hers and her smile brightens upon their eye contact. It almost seemed as if she was inviting him to join her.

She then stops jumping, and she turns to the boy with her smile remaining.

Taehyun just looks at her from afar, holding his umbrella over himself and contemplating inside his head whether he should approach her to give her shelter or continue walking home like he always did.

His lips part while thinking, and a single silent sigh escapes him.

"What is she doing? What am I doing?"

Suddenly, the boy's attention is shifted when he feels a hand on his shoulder, and he turns around to see an old woman beside him, looking at him with an inviting smile.

"Young man, what are you doing out here in the cold? You should go and find yourself some shelter," the woman tells him.

"O-oh... Yes, of course," Taehyun replies politely, bowing slightly to the woman before glancing towards the girl only for his eyes to widen in surprise.

The wet and dull park is empty, its puddles now still if it were not for the still-falling rain.

The girl? She's gone.

The next day, Taehyun sat at his desk, his mind wandering as he stared out the window with his chin resting on top of his propped arm.

That was the first time the girl had ever looked at anyone. And it was also the first time she disappeared so suddenly and seemingly into thin air even.

Not like Taehyun was ever the kind to care. If the girl wanted to have fun in the rain, then so be it. He had no business to tell her otherwise since she seems to be immune to getting colds anyway.

"Hey! What are you all daydreaming about again?"

Taehyun turns his gaze just as his friend Kai appears beside his desk and sits down on the desktop of his seatmate's desk. His aloof expression remains as he looks up at his friend who looks at him curiously.
