"Remember when we were younger and I'd always take you to the secret wooden bridge I had found and later fixed with Sapnap's help? I left a little gift for you by the river. Go pick that up."

Now, as unfortunate as it sounds, George doesn't remember where the bridge is.

He tried everything, he scrolled through every single page of his diary, Dream's diary, he read every postcard.. basically every paper or note that George had kept for their necessity or emotional value, he checked like it was a job he earned his income with.

He tried everything, except for talking to Sapnap. And that was something he was heavily against, but did he really have a choice?

George sighed deeply, reconsidering his decisions before hesitantly knocking on the wooden door. As the door opened, Unexpectedly but fortunately he was greeted by Karl's brown eyes instead of Sapnap's greenish brown ones.

"George? Is that really you?"
A few tears formed in Karl's eyes as he threw himself in his friend's warm embrace.
"The one and only."
As soon as George smiled and pulled away from the man, Karl had a question he desperately wanted an answer for.
"As usual, Dream isn't here. Is he working on some project again?"
Karl said jokingly, letting out a laugh at some point.
George's smile disappeared
"Excuse me?"
Karl frowned his eyebrows before asking again: "where's Dream, George?"
His tone had gotten more serious, worried, if you will.

Before George's heart sank enough for him to just turn back and forget about the aforementioned 'little gift' his husband had left for him by some random bridge, Sapnap interrupted their conversation.

"George? It's been so long, how have you been, dude?"
He said, pushing Karl back to get better view of his ex-best friend who responded to his welcoming smile rather coldly.
"Do not "dude" me, Sapnap."
The king's teeth gridded in his mostly closed mouth as he spoke to the slightly shorter male.
"George? Wha-"
Sapnap tried, but was shortly cut off by The brunette.
"I'm king George to you."

The contact between their eyes had grown almost so dangerous, that either of them would have feared the other if they had weapons of any kind on them.

"And if you're allowing me, it would be my pleasure to take you for a walk and have a little chat. Come on."
George turned around and took a few steps forward as hesitant Sapnap rushed beside him, leaving confused Karl behind.

"So G- King George"
George hummed as he got on the tip of his toes to detach a green apple from a branch.
"So what was it you wanted to talk about?" Sapnap tried carefully, like he was talking to a king instead of his bestfriend.
George sighed and placed the apple on his hand into a basket Niki had made out of sticks.
"I need you to guide me to the bridge."
"Why?"
George picked up the basket and turned around to face Sapnap.
"Dream left me something there"

Sapnap normally wouldn't have agreed to do a favour for somebody who treats him coldly, like they were better than him, But he saw this as a good opportunity to fix the bond between him and George.

"Are you in or not?"
"Yes"
Sapnap responded with no hesitation.
"Good, now go back to your house and get ready, we're leaving early tomorrow morning."

                                          •
The morning was surprisingly cold in the parts of the forest where the trees blocked the sunlight. Both men carried unnecessarily heavy bags full of necessities. The three day long walk started to drive the king to boredom only a few hours in.

"Hey Sapnap,"
The man in front of George turned his head just enough to see him.
"Yes?"
"There's something that bothers me."

A harmonic burbling sound of the river behind a couple of trees and the surprisingly rhythmical croaking of a few frogs combined was like music to the kings ears. Sapnap had heard it way too many times to appreciate, or let alone pay attention to it's existence.

"Why did Karl ask me about Dream's location?"
Sapnap sighed rather loudly.
"Karl- he has issues with remembering stuff, They have worsened since Quackity left"

George's insides filled with worry faster than you can bat an eye, It weighed more than any bag or galloon of water he was carrying.

"Oh i'm- i'm sorry." He reached his soft skinned hand to place it on the ravenhead's shoulder. "It's fine king George, don't worry."
"Just call me George."

Many trees and rocks later the sun had disappeared to the horizon, Sapnap and George were laying down on a flower field, the comfortable and rather warm sleeping bags covered their bodies all over. The stars were bright, no clouds were seen anywhere. With the stars The crescent lightened up the field, everything else was asleep but George, who was worrying about his prisoned husband and Karl.
