Frisk huffed as Toriel drove them to school. It was the first day of school, and Toriel had to practically drag Frisk out of bed to get them ready for school.

"We're here," Toriel exclaimed, and Frisk unbuckled themselves before exiting the car. "Be good for your teacher, okay?" Toriel asked them, a pleading look in her eyes. The child simply nodded and walked to the front doors.

Shortly after entering the school, they walked to their classroom, but just as they got to the classroom door, the first thing they saw was three people. A brown-haired boy with blue eyes, a blonde-haired boy with green eyes, and a black-haired boy with brown eyes. The three boys looked over to them, and the brunette signaled to them to follow him, and the other two followed him, where they stopped in front of Frisk.

"Hey, nerd," The brunette said as he grabbed Frisk's hair, "Where'd you get that stupid haircut?" He lifted them by the hair, making them let out a pained wail. "I'll fix it for you!" But the brunette got cut off by the bell ringing, and he growled before setting them down.

The teacher walked in as the other students got to their seats. Frisk raced to their seat just as the  teacher started to take attendance. It turned out, that Frisk learned during attendance, that the brunette's name was Jake, the blonde-haired boy's name was Derek, and the black-haired boy was named Kyle.

Throughout that day, Frisk found themselves being pelted by spitballs and pencils, then later on, when they tried to get outside, Jake shoved them into a locker, making them get stuck immediately. Finally, the end of the day came, and Frisk shoved their way through the crowd, then practically leaped into the seat of the car.

Later that evening, Frisk laid on their bed, staring at the ceiling. It was almost time for them to get into bed, but they didn't feel tired at all. In fact, they felt more energetic. Just then, an idea came into their head. They were allowed to go to the skeleton brothers' house at anytime, as Toriel had said, so they got off of the bed and ran to the front door.

"I'm going to Sans's and Papyrus's house!" They yelled, and a faint "okay!" was heard from Toriel's room. Frisk then walked out of the door, closing it behind them, and started to run to the house of the skeleton brothers, not bothering to stop to take a break.

When they arrived, they were exhausted and out of breath. They knocked on the door, panting slightly, and to their surprise, Sans opened the door. His eyesockets widened as he looked around, looking for Toriel's car, then he looked back at the human.

"kiddo? what are you doin'-" His sentence was cut off by Frisk practically throwing themselves onto him, breaking into a sob. His eyesockets widened, then he hugged them close, humming softly as means of comforting them. "hey, what happened, kid?"

Frisk explained what had happened to them on that day, about what the bullies did. Sans chuckled. "next time, just smile and tell 'em a compliment. they'll never expect it. remember that the best defense against a bully is kindness."

The next day, Frisk entered the school once again after waving Toriel goodbye, and as they progressed to their classroom, an uneasy feeling settled in their stomach as they started to think that this wouldn't work. When they entered, the brunette from before stalked toward them. "Hey, dummy!" He said, then slapped them in the back of their head.

They took a deep breath.

"You look nice today, Jake."

And, unlike what they were expecting, Jake's face flushed red in embarrassment as he stumbled over his words. Derek and Kyle laughed at Jake's fleeble attempts to think of a comeback. "Y-you're... uh... You're a p-poop face!" To that, Frisk simply smiled and walked to their desk after wishing him a good day.

Later that day, Frisk ran to the skeleton brothers' house again, after telling Toriel that they were going, and told Sans all about what happened. His permanent grin seemed to widen as they explained their story.

"I told ya that it would work!" He said as he ruffled their hair, making them giggle. They had, indeed, found that the best defense against a bully is kindness.
