PHOEBE DECKER WAS A HOPELESS ROMANTIC. After so many heartbreaks, she still believed in love. Of course, Phoebe stopped believing in love when her best friend, Wally, died. Although their love was platonic, the heartbreak was too much to handle.
Today was Phoebe Decker's first date in over five years. She had been set up by a friend from the school that she worked at. After the Titan's fell apart and Wally died, Phoebe had decided to become a middle school teacher. A job that required patience, something Phoebe did not have.
Phoebe stared at herself in the mirror of her small apartment. A worn out shirt she had gotten from Marshall's on the clearance rack, a pair of loosely fit jeans, and Nike sneakers. Her hair was let down loose and curly, while her makeup was applied very lightly.
"Oh, come on." Wally rolled her eyes, stepping up next to Phoebe. "You look fantastic."
"Piss off," Phoebe sighed, walking away from the mirror and grabbing her purse and keys. "I mean, what am I even supposed to say tonight?"
Closing the door behind her, Phoebe and Wally walked out of the apartment, heading to the elevator. "Ask her what are her interests? Her hobbies? Compliment her appearance. What's her name, again?"
The elevator dinged, the doors sliding open. "Skye, apparently. She's very pretty. Jamie showed me picture's of her at work." The two slid into the elevator, nonchalantly. From a young age, Phoebe had labeled herself as bisexual, even if not everyone excepted herself for who she was. She realized she liked men and women.
"Didn't I go out with a Jamie?" Wally wondered, to which Phoebe shook her head yes. The elevator reached the lobby, Phoebe and Wally walking out of the elevator. Phoebe gave the doorman a quick thanks before the two headed to Phoebe's car. "I think you'll sweep Skye right off your feet. I mean, look at you!"
"A twenty-six year old woman who's a middle school history teacher with mental issues. Yeah, definitely think she'll be in my bed by the end of the night." Phoebe scoffed. Walking through the parking lot, Phoebe and Wally got to her Honda Accord.
The ride to the restaurant was silent, obviously because Wally wasn't even actually with Phoebe. Phoebe didn't know what to say in the moment, so it was nothing.
