PHOEBE FLINCHED as a doctor injected another syringe into the side of her neck. "The fuck are you doing to me?" She seethed, as she felt her body start to go limp. She couldn't move anything, almost feeling dead.
"We're just trying to relax you, Ms. Decker. It's easier to perform a procedure when you feel calm and relaxed."
"I feel anything but fucking calm."
Phoebe closed her eyes, wishing this was all just a horrible nightmare. When she would wake up, she would be in her small one bedroom apartment and would have to get ready for teaching a group of misbehaved teenagers who had no interest in learning about ancient history.
God, she wished it was that easy. The doctors started to put what seemed like stim pads all over Phoebe's head, connecting to one big machine. "Close your eyes, Ms. Decker. This should only take a minute."
Screaming she felt shocks of electricity course through her body, Phoebe kept her eyes shut tight. Something wrong was happening, and it made her feel like she was about to die. Wanting to scream and reach out for Dick, Phoebe didn't have the energy to do so.
Everything started to seem fuzzy to Phoebe. The sound, the pain, everything seemed gone. Opening her eyes, Phoebe was outside of a familiar diner.
The same diner that Wally had died at five years before.
Looking down at herself, she noticed the little skirt she had on with a sweater she had worn the exact same day. Her hair was placed in a braided bun, and her makeup was lightly applied.
Opening the door, the bell rang from above. Looking around the diner, she noticed Wally sitting down in a booth, her red hair making her stick out in the crowd.
This is exactly how Phoebe remembered this night going.
Noticing Phoebe, Wally smiled and waved her hand. "Hey Pheebs, over here!"
Thinking she knew what was going to happen at the end, Phoebe took a deep breath. Looking on the bright side, she could have her final visit with Wally.
Walking over to Wally, Phoebe looked up and down at all the booths, observing everyone and everything. Reaching the booth Wally was sitting at, she sat across from the girl. "Hey Wally, how's everything?"
