Hermione's P.O.V.

"Nonsense!" Hagrid exclaims. "Why would Snape put a curse on Harry's broom?"

"He hates him enough," (y/n) mutters.

"Who knows?" Harry asks. "Why was he trying to get past that three-headed dog on Halloween?"

I see a flicker of recognition in Hagrid's eyes.

"Who told you 'bout Fluffy?"

"Fluffy?" Ron asks incredulously.

"That thing has a name?" I ask, just as shocked.

"It's not a 'thing', Hermione," (y/n) insists.

"(Y/n)," I try to reason, "did you miss the part where it tried to kill us?"

"Hermione," (Y/n) mimics, "did you miss the part where he's still a living creature?"

"Of course he's go' a name! He's mine," Hagrid tells us. We all stare wide-eyed. Even (y/n). "I bought him off an Irish feller I met down at the pub las' year. Then I lent him to Dumbledore to guard the..."

Hagrid catches himself and stops.

"Yes?"

"I shouldn'a said tha'. No more questions! Don't ask anymore questions. Tha's stop secret, tha' is," Hagrid says, panicky.

"But Hagrid, whatever Fluffy's guarding, Snape's trying to steal it!" Harry exclaims.

"Codswallop. Professor Snape is a Hogwarts teacher."

"Hogwarts teacher or not, I know a spell when I see one. I've read all about them. You've got to keep eye contact and Snape. Wasn't. Blinking," I tell him.

"Exactly," Harry agrees.

"I read about them too," (y/n) chimes in. "The only reason Harry's alive right now is because I momentarily blocked Snape's view. When I flew in front of Harry, I saved his life."

Hagrid sighs.

"Now, you listen to me, all four of you. You're meddling in things that ought not to be meddled in. It's dangerous. What that dog is guarding is strictly between Dumbledore and Nicholas Flamel."

Flamel... where have I heard that name?

I look at (y/n) and know she recognized it as well.

Harry looks at us three then Hagrid.

"Nicholas Flamel?"

Hagrid looks panicked again.

"I shouldn'a said tha'. I should not have said tha'.

Hagrid walks away, mumbling to himself and Harry turns to (y/n) and I.

"Who's Nicholas Flamel?"

"I don't know," I reply sadly.

"But I've heard the name," (y/n) says firmly. "We need to go to the library."

A/N: We are officially halfway through this book! I've done a rough plan and this book should be 24 chapters long :)
