Isaiah sat back, rubbing his temples in an attempt to stop the migraine before it started. " Compromise..." He mumbled to himself, opening his eyes to see what the two demons were doing. Glad Chris managed to make a friend, keeping him out of trouble, but why another demon?
Neves was currently sprawled out on the carpet while Chris just walked around him. Both speaking in dead languages, Chris failing at most of the pronunciations and getting corrected.
" I give up. If I was meant to know this shit,I would be a real demon."
" So you're just gonna quit after you're stuck in a world where most speak it? Aren't you from the sixties? Hypocrite."
" I didn't think this would be that hard. And I'm drunk. It's not fair." He rambled on under his breath, tossing the bottle aside.
Neves grabbed his foot, tripping the demonic hybrid and laughing when his eye rolled down the hall." Don't waste. Y booze, ingrate."
Though he couldn't direct his body, he watched the room spin as it rolled and puked on himself. " Sound like the piece of shit older than me. "Isaiah closed his eyes again, regretting recent decisions. Ambrosia is fine for ethereal beings, but it's almost like he forgot the guy was born mortal. " it's called a father, and you're supposed to honor them. "He got up to get his eye for him just to yelled at. " I fucking got it you overgrown pigeon! And shut up! Fuck, I'm more honorable than that filth.."
" You're drunk and I know your pride is hurt. Just let me-" " You don't know what you're talking about. Angels don't have to deal with parents, people, or choices...I got it." " uh huh.." He watched him scramble for his eye, running into the wall on and off.
Neves sat up, gesturing for isaiah to sit down." Mortals are blind to their flaws, especially drunk ones. Not to mention he's a corrupted soul now. Don't waste your breath. "
He glared at the demon half tempted to destroy them on the spot, but they were right. He sat back down, listening to the two's thoughts before realizing Neves was thinking on weaponizing the drunk bastard who just found their sense of sight again. " I'm going to have to kill you both if you act on that, Neves."
He rolled his eyes, taking his mask off to brush his hair out of his face before smiling at him. " It's a thought, buddy. I know that counts in your book, but destruction is a natural fantasy for creatures like us. I would never."
He knew he was lying but decided to put the conversation to rest when Chris fell back to the floor. Ignorance is bliss and fortunately for him, Chris had a never ending supply of it. He was an evil and terrible sinner, but global destruction was never his intent or on his mind. He watched, getting absorbed in his thoughts briefly before Neves spoke up." So can I ask why you obsess over him? He's already dead. Redemption is impossible and unless you kill him, he's going to be more and more like us." " I guess I have a hard time accepting I failed. I was a terrible guardian and I suppose I feel responsible for what he's become." He admitted, leaning back in his seat. Honesty is a curse and a blessing. Never having anything to hide but the smug look on the demons face made him uncomfortable. Neves laid back down, putting an arm under his head. " Freewill and choices were all his though. Like sky daddy says, he did it all to himself. "
" It's also useful to have a demon that works for righteous purposes. Much like when you all harvest angels. We're just a little more compassionate."
" You think that'll help? Chris has always done what Chris wanted. Sure he wants to help now, but wait until he realizes what he can get by with working with us. Be honest with yourself and let go. Even god fails. You failed. Chris chose a path. " Isaiah took a breath, looking towards the drunken hybrid. Though he was full of uncertainty, he just shook his head. " Since he's out, you should leave. I don't need ash on my sword and you've been here long enough"
