"Here you are, y/n! The wonderful Mystery Shack!" My mom said, stopping the car. "Do I have to go in?" I groaned.
"y/n l/n! I worked hard to find you a nice summer job! The least you can do is go in there and earn some money, okay? And if you quit, Mr. Pines will tell me, so don't even think about that." She said sternly.
I rolled my eyes. "Fine." I said faking a smile. I hopped out the car, dragging my backpack behind me.
"Bye sweetie! Good luck! I love you!" My mom said, waving. "I love you too, mom!" I called back, waving. It was time for the worst summer of my life.

As I got closer to the building, a well dressed man in a fez walked up to me. "Hey there, kid! Are you y/n l/n?" He said, staring at me. "Yeah... are you Stan Pines?" I asked
"The one and only! I'm also known as the man of mystery!" He said, tipping is fez. A small cloud of smoke came out.
"Uhh I think I'll just call you Mr. Pines." I said, elbowing my way past him. As I walked inside, the wood floors creaked beneath me as if they were gonna break. Stan caught up behind me. "I like your attitude kid. I think you'll fit in just fine around here. Now, meet my great niece and nephew." He said gesturing to two kids, about my age.
One was a girl with a huge purple sweater. I was confused. Why would you wear sweaters during the summer? Anyways, she had long chocolate brown hair. She looked up from reading a teen magazine. She gasped. "Omigosh! A new friend! And your pretty too!" The girl exclaimed, running up to me.
I was a little bit taller than her, but it didn't really make a difference. She skidded to a halt. "Hi I'm Mable! And that nerd over there is my brother, Dipper." She said pointing to the boy sitting on the floor reading a ripped up old book.
"Hey." He waved, not looking up. I smiled. "Must be some book huh." I said sitting down next to him. He scrunched up his face in slight annoyance.
"Yeah, some bo..." He trailed off as he looked at me. Then his face started turning red. I gave him a confused look. "How ya doing there, Dipper?" I said. The face he was making was adorable. I couldn't help but smile.
"Nothing! I just umm thought I saw something outside!" His blush darkened. "Uh huh..." I said, turning to Mr. Pines. "Is there anything I need to do?" Mr. Pines nodded. "Since Wendy isn't here yet, you can take her place. Kids! Show her what to do." And with that, he opened a can of pitt cola and walked through the STAFF ONLY door.
Mable caught me by surprise and poked my side. I jumped. "GAH! Mable! What was that for?"
She laughed. "Are you gonna work or not? Here look. Wendy's job is just the cash register. Easy. Your good at math right?" She asked.
I nodded. "Ok then! Your all set then. And maybe when your shifts over we can hang out!" She said, excitedly. Mable seemed pretty fun.
"Sure!" I said smiling. "Yay! She said. The she quieted her voice. "Psst. I can totally tell my bro-bro likes you!" I blushed and looked at Dipper. He was oddly staring at me. When he saw I was looking at him, he quickly turned away.
I smiled. He is just so adorable! His perfect brown hair and everything! So much for the worst summer ever!
