Those who didn't know us would've thought we were ordinary humans, but we weren't.
Within the werewolf community, it was rare to be a wolf that possessed some power.
My parents always told me never to show my true abilities outside the comfort of my own home.
My pack was filled with those who were ordinary wolves, but if you were a Lycan wolf, you had to keep your wolf a secret.
It turned out that I was the only Lycan wolf in my pack.
My Dad was Beta of the Moonshine Pack, and my Alpha was Alpha Blake. My Dad was an admirable person.
I lived and longed for the days when we could live forever in happiness and not in fear. Unfortunately, Lycan wolves were endangered.
Normal werewolves had the freedom to live ordinary lives.
They didn't have to worry about being kidnapped or killed by a Hunter.
...
Like most days of my life, I dreaded that I had to go to school.
I'm a senior at Moonshine High School, but I can't wait to graduate and move far away from home. I didn't like anyone, and no one wanted me.
I wasn't the kid who got teased in high school, but people avoided me like I didn't exist.
I laughed humorlessly when I remembered the day I first attended high school.
I thought I would be treated differently and my peers would have accepted me for who I was.
I was a shy and quiet girl who wanted to break out of her shell.
I tried to make friends, but the funny thing is that I was the one who was judged, not them.
...
"Hey, Jen." Mom said.
"Yes." I turned around in my seat before I got out of the car.
"Be yourself." She gave me a small smile.
"Okay," I said quietly. If only she knew that I tried for years to be myself.
Seventeen years later, I have no friends and not even one person that I can call my best friend. The only people I have are my family.
I got out of the car and closed the door behind me. I then walked towards the front steps of the building.
While I walked, I noticed that many kids had stared at me.
I gave some of them a small smile, but they all looked at me like I was weird.
I sighed. This will be a long day.
When you were a Lycan wolf, ordinary wolves couldn't tell if you had your first shift yet. In my pack, Moonshine Pack, those who didn't shift were teased.
My parents had always warned me not to tell anyone about my true identity.
People stopped bullying me when my Dad, Beta Isaac, ordered pack members not to bully his daughter.
They all followed his orders since they knew that my Dad was short-tempered. He wasn't someone that you wanted to mess with.
I thought that being a senior in high school would change things, but it didn't.
...
Before I opened the building door, I turned halfway around. I saw that my mom was still parked in the parking lot.
She waited for me to go inside the school. I waved goodbye, and she nodded her head.
I then turned around and walked inside. Shortly after, I heard her car move further away from my school.
I walked over to my locker and turned the lock. I opened it and picked out the books I needed for the day.
Since I had Math, English, and History, I took out those books and placed them inside my book bag.
I then closed my locker and headed over to my first class, which was English.
After I spent ten minutes trying to get past people who stood in my way, I finally walked into my classroom.
I looked around and saw a lot of people already seated. Professors taught class in big lecture halls since my pack was rich.
Alpha Blake had built my high school like it was as big as a university.
I rolled my eyes since this was a high school, not college. A few moments later, I sat down in the first row.
It was always empty since everyone knew that that was where I sat down.
Even when the class was full, people sat on the ground rather than beside me.
Those who didn't know me were new kids, but before they sat down next to me, a random person would warn them.
At first, I was annoyed, but now I could care less.
I took out my English notebook, as well as my pen.
I waited impatiently for the bell to ring so the teacher could start their lesson.
When the class was over, I left right away.
To pass the time, I opened my notebook and started to draw random things.
I was good at drawing, but I should have taken it seriously since I figured that I couldn't go far with it.
I mean, a Lycan wolf being a famous painter is unheard of.
Besides, why would you want the fame that made you more vulnerable to be tracked down and possibly killed?
Those who did it wanted a death wish placed on them.
While I was drawing, the bell rang, and I sighed. "Finally," I mumbled.
Instantly, I smelled a guy that had a strong aftershave that was 'Just For Men.' He smelled like chocolate and tropical fruits.
I moaned since he smelled so good. I looked up and saw the hottest guy that I had ever seen.
My eyes wandered up to his arm, to his strong forearm disappearing into the sleeve of his dress shirt, pushed up to below his elbow to free his hands.
His nose was straight and aquiline, and his lips were perfectly formed.
Parted slightly, his breath, I imagined, moving in and out in steady streams of air.
He stood at six foot two with a muscular build. I caught a flash of his emerald eyes framed by tangled black lashes.
Suddenly, my wolf, Susy, became excited. "Mate, Mate!" She squealed, and I rolled my eyes.
