"Mary I am so sorry. Honestly, I had no clue otherwise I would've been more-"

"Kathy, seriously it's fine." Mary smiled genuinely at me and I smiled back, happy that she was ok.

"Soooo, let's watch a movie." Jess smiled.

"What movie?" I ask.

"Can we please watch Carl Barron? I haven't watched him in ages!" Jess clapped.

"OH MY GOD YES!" I clapped along with her, Carl Barron never fails to make me laugh.

"I haven't watched him before, is he good?"

"ARE YOU KIDDING! HES SO GOOD!" I yell.

"Okay okay, jeez.." Mary raises her hands in the air to feign surrender.

"Which one Jess?" I ask, eager to start the marathon.

"Any!" She replies. I put the DVD in the drive and jump on the couch in between the girls and we sit and watch Carl Barron for the rest of the night, I think it's just what we needed.

"JESS GET THE DOOR!" Mary yells from the bathroom.

"KATHY GET THE DOOR!" Jess yells from her spot on the couch. I roll my eyes and shove her legs off my lap and open the door while attempting to flatten my hair so I look the tiniest bit presentable. I look up to greet the unknown visitor and my smile quickly fades away.

"Ash? What are you doing here?" I ask, annoyed. I step out of the apartment and close the door behind me.

"Woah I'm sorry, can't friends visit each other?" He replies teasingly.

"WHO IS IT?" Jess shouts, from the couch still, I'm assuming.

"UH, IT'S ASHTON." I yell back and bite my lip, nervous of her response. I hear footsteps and soon enough the door is reopened and Jess and Mary are standing there with big smiles stretched across their cheeks.

"So, are you gonna come in or just stand in the hallway?" Mary asks casually.

"Actually, Ashton was just leaving, weren't you?" I look at him sternly and widen my eyes, trying to get him to leave.

"I have time." He smiles mischievously and steps past me into the apartment. I groan and follow everyone into the kitchen.

"What brings you here?" Jess wonders, pulling out a bottle of pepsi and four glasses.

"Oh you know, things." He glances at me and I roll my eyes, again. The amount of times that I've rolled my eyes recently, you'd think they'd fall out of their sockets.

"What 'things' in particular?" Mary tries to dig deeper.

"Well, I wanted to discuss with Kathy what happened-" Before he could finish his sentence I hit him in the stomach and drag him by his ear into the hallway. The girls just laugh and resume what they were doing previously.

"Excuse me, I was in the middle of a conversation." He rubs his ear and holds his stomach, I try to hide the fact that my hand is throbbing vigorously and will probably bruise by the next few hours. He smirks and gestures to my hand.

"Sore? I'm sorry, I've been working out a lot recently." He winks. I ignore his comment and ask my question again.

"Ashton, what are you really doing here?" His smile fades and his eyes glance away, all signs of previous confidence is gone by this point.

"Walk with me?" He holds his hand out for me to take but I ignore it and walk towards the elevator. The elevator and walk down the busy street is silent, both of us thinking about whats going to happen.

We come up to a small park infested with children and find an empty picnic table to sit ourselves down at. We sit in silence for a few moments before he clears his throats and begins to speak.

"Look, I know that you've forgiven me and I am extremely thankful for that, but whats the point in forgiving me if you're going to avoid me, and why am I trying this hard to regain your respect? I should be ignoring you! You're the one that doesn't believe she forced herself onto me! You're the one that thinks I'm not a faithful boyfriend even though I have thousands of girls throwing themselves at me!" He begins raising his voice but takes a deep breath and runs his hand through his tangled hair to calm himself down.

"Surely you're not blaming this on me? Ashton, you know I still have feelings for you and I know you still have feelings for me but this isn't working right now and you need to understand that." I puff out and play with the ends of my hair.

"Fine, I can understand that. But you have to understand, that I'm not going to stop trying." He smiles at me and helps me off the table top.
