"Wyatt, please stop."
"I hope you know I wouldn't be saying that to you if it were you going on stage in an hour."
Wyatt Buckley, adorned in a fashionable cream robe, topped with a moss green cloak, her bible and cross already in her lap, was sitting in the lighting box behind the Hogwarts' auditorium, reciting her total sixteen lines for about the sixteenth hundredth time, at 6:03 pm on December twenty-third. The person subjected to her rehearsal ─ her best friend and lighting coordinator, Theodore Morley (Teddy, for short) ─ wasn't best pleased she chose his workplace as her recital place.
Teddy had always tried his best to be as nice as possible when it came to Wyatt and Shakespeare, but when he has an entire Muggle setup that he has to regulate all on his own, for a show that starts in less than an hour, his composure was on its last straw.
It would be nice to say that Wyatt isn't always like this ─ but she is. And so that cannot be said. Professor Flitwick has always trusted Teddy ─ a Muggleborn ─ to single-handedly design and systematize the lighting arrangements for each of the Charms' teachers plays every other year and Teddy took pride in that. The boy has always had a knack for modern technology that, inside of Hogwarts, he never had the chance to usually operate. This opportunity is massive and incredibly enjoyable. Muggle tech doesn't work at Hogwarts, so for Professor Flitwick to organise this to be the only No-Maj electronics in the entire castle and to then give it to Teddy to use, is pretty bloody epic.
It just so happens that his best friend has a knack for acting.
Teddy sighed, "Funny that you can't go about life using the word "if", Wyatt." He replied. "I happen to not be going on stage in an hour, no, but I do have to set all of this up by curtain call. And it would be greatly appreciated if you weren't to disturb me."
Wyatt took Shakespeare very seriously. Especially considering this was their final night, her parents and best friend were in the audience and it could be the last time she is going to play a side character since it will be her seventh year the next time Flitwick hosts a Hogwarts play. But she could see where Teddy was coming from, and she had nearly read the play to death. It was time for her to go.
