Because Rudy was always away from home on her birthday, her parents would make the most of the later part of the year: celebrations before she left for school, an abundance of things were sent to her while she was at school, and then of course, the celebrations continued when she returned home for Christmas.

Past birthdays have included: theme parks, fancy dinners, West End shows. All fully paid for too. One year, the idea of a weekend trip to Paris was thrown about but, because it didn't work for Teddy's schedule, they didn't end up going.

As her two closest friends, Wyatt and Teddy were always included in the celebrations and even at the forefront of planning. Because Rudy didn't like having all the attention on her despite it being her birthday, she liked to share it out with lots of other people and give them a good time too.

Sometimes, Wyatt and Teddy were more excited for Rudy's birthday than their own. Not because they were ungrateful, but because the taste of riches was just too good to pass up.

The most admirable part of it all was that Rudy was not spoiled, or bratty. Wyatt and Teddy were incredibly proud of her constant gratuity and subtlety when it came to her family's money.

This year, was a dinner and pub night in Hogsmeade because, of course, it was her eighteenth and Rudy liked the idea of being the oldest. One thing she liked even more than that, was quizzes (because, more often than not, she was the smartest person in the room and who doesn't like that?). The Three Broomsticks held great Muggle quiz nights and one just so happened to fall on Rudy's big day. The private dining part was tagged on to fit according to the pub's schedule.

Rudy originally only wanted the three of them to go but her parents pushed the idea of spending more money so she agreed to invite more people. This soon became the first planning issue the group encountered.

The three friends lay on the floor of Wyatt and Rudy's dorm room, surrounded by pots of ink and quills, an array of parchment and envelopes, mostly just staring at the ceiling.

"I think I'll invite the whole drama club," Rudy said before then testing to see if she could justify it, "because . . ." Both her best friends were members?
