Ava

I heard Kaleb telling everyone to get out. I don't know how long I stood there. Hiding again when something bad happens.

Kaleb's arm circled around me from behind, pulling me tightly against his hard chest. I turned and buried my face against his chest and our bodies ignited against each other. It felt so good and so safe. I never wanted to leave. It was so warm and so protective. My fears and anxiety crumbled away.

His hold stiffened for a second before pulling me tighter. I felt, for once in my life, that I was finally okay. I was invincible in his arms.

"I'm sorry." I managed to say. The sound was slightly muffled through my sobs. Guilty that I ruined their birthday.

He leaned down pressing his lips to the top of my head. It was uncharacteristic of him but I wasn't going to say anything. I liked it.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. Kol will clear out your apartment. But I think it would be better if you stay here for tonight." He nuzzled my hair and I melted against him nuzzling him as I nodded.

Kol eventually walked back in. His eyes searching until he spotted me in Kaleb's arms. I pulled away from Kaleb to look over Kol seeing that he wasn't hurt. "Is he...?"

Gone? Dead? I don't know if I cared either way. Kol was fine. I was safe.

Kol looked at Kaleb curiously before grabbing my wrist and pulling me into him. Like Kaleb, our touch was electric and I found myself reacting the same way. I subconsciously molded myself into his muscular form as he tensed for a brief moment before pulling me flush against him. He dipped his head into my neck and took deep breaths. His body shook like I had. The fear of what could have happened rattled the both of us.

Kaleb growled. I turned seeing his eyes bleed red as he bared his fangs at Kol before charging at us.

Kol managed to push me away before Kaleb knocked them into the kitchen. Kol's back hit the island breaking some of the marble off. Kol's vampire took over growling at Kaleb as they fought.

This wasn't just sibling rivalry. I could see in their eyes that they wanted to kill each other.

"Stop!" I said moving to intervene.

Their eyes returning to their pure blue. I sighed with relief. "What the hell was that?"

Kaleb and Kol glanced at each other. They had silent conversations all the time. It was a 'twin thing'.
