Chapter 12

Ava

We ate in silence but not without heated side glances and soft touches. Kaleb's hand kept brushing my thigh as he ate. Kol sat on the opposite side of me. His leg brushed against mine. He took my left hand in his to kiss the top of it.

I was pretty sure we were not going to make it outside the house until the front door opened. Kol and Kaleb growled lowly. I scented the people inside. I was not as familiar with everyone to recognize which scent belonged to who.

"Time for some sparring!" Kade said with a big smile on his face as he entered the kitchen.

Kaleb swallowed his last bite of food before replying. "Can't. Kol almost died yesterday. He's still healing and shit."

Kol glared at Kaleb not liking that he insinuated that he was weak. Kade walked over with Hailee right behind him. She was like light. Her hair was so blonde and she always smiled. She was so pure compared to everyone else.

She winked at me as Kade made his way to Kol. Kade smacked Kol's back hard. Kol tensed and stood coming face to face with the lycan.

Kade met his glare and smiled an easy smile. "Nah...he's fine."

Kaleb sighed. He was annoyed but I couldn't tell if it was at Kol for reacting or Kade. "Not today. We are busy."

Hailee giggled placing her elbows on the island. Her hands holding her face as she smiled teasingly. "I'm sure you are."

I blushed.

Kade backed down from Kade and looked at Kaleb. "I figured you would decline so I brought him."

He threw a thumb over his shoulder and another scent entered the room. It was musky. I think I caught a hint of cedar and leather. I then heard the thump of heavy boots and I growled.

"Mornin Spawn." Floki said as he walked in behind me.
